Any email address will do, just make one up. Also, you must delete your cookies and for good measure reboot the router
in order to get another dynamic IP address; otherwise you will waste a voucher by receiving the exact same bar code number!

Just to let you know the voucher code is nothing to do with your IP address - we have a fixed one & I applied for vouchers for some friends who don't have a computer using their email addresses & posted the vouchers to them earlier in the week. All the vouchers had different codes.

(The system has now been changed to email you the voucher link but googlemail & yahoo! both also give free email accounts for anyone needing one.)

    Good luck.

Nope! Methinx they will be sifting through them from tomorrow, and making sure there are no duplicate addresses.
  • Put a voucher towards the cost of a steamer today (only £4.79 after the voucher) and SA asked me to provide surname and postcode. Don't know what she intended to do with it as she just scribbled in on the back of the voucher.

I wonder if this is their new procedure or if she was just using a scare tactic??

Went into today to see if the gift guides were out on the floor - nope. I did see a SA explaining the promotion to a customer who had just bought something, so I rather suspect they're giving out the gift guides with purchase.

Strikes me as odd - surely a guide is for someone who doesn't know what they want to buy, as opposed to someone who's already done their shopping?
  • I think this promotion has damaged currys reputation more than ever as i will no longer use them , i tried a voucher and was made to feel like a criminal unlike debenhams £5 voucher where the assistants were all smiles and where i have been back since which proves that this form of advertising works

Just to confirm, you do not have to make a purchase to get a gift guide. In fact, you should be given one on your way in, in most cases - and if not, at the till. You can ask for them, too.

It is only one per household (and I'm sure that was the case at the start anyway), but as some people decided to take the pee, the rules have tightened.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

    Been today.
Gift guides were hidden away in a blue box.
Managed to get 2 while no staff were looking, and I got given another.
3 in total but I get the feeling they have tightened the rules and don't want to give them out.

  • Used one of mine today in Newcastle - SA completely polite and professional. He did, however, flag it up to supervisor/manager who was there anyway, but discreetly and no issues at all.

I did notice that all the gift guides were behind the tills though
