Mine normally go up first weekend in December. I used to leave it till around 10th-15th December but now I have no willpower and am itching to do it earlier! This year my DH is off work that weekend so we will be taking the boys to the grotto on the Saturday morning, followed by the Christmas market, then coming home and spending the afternoon and evening putting the decs up! :j
We have 2 artificial trees, one in living room and one in dining room, so no worry about real tree shedding etc. Ours almost always stay up till twelfth night, although I have to admit I did take them down on 4th Jan this year as they were starting to get on my nerves. My youngest DS's birthday is 2nd Jan so they definitely always stay up for that!0 -
I cant wait to put mine up this year, my little one is going to love it! He was too small last year. Hubby says I'm not allowed until I've wrapped all the presents. what a meanie!0

12 days before and after if we're home - but this year we're away so they'll go up on around the second day of our hols - not a big tree, just a few bits and bobs from Poundland, think I might have to leave the battery powered lights at home this year, the luggage allowance is a bit tighter than last year.:(Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

We always leave ours till the 2nd week, the day after our daughters birthday so at least she feels like it's her day instead of just about Christmas, I love putting the decorations up but by New Year I get sick of having to clean around everything and we always need the lights replacing every year.
Very funny last year we were looking at what we thought was a massive tree in the garden centre and the couple next to us talked about getting the same tree for their hall!!! guess that's how the other half live.0 -
1st December always ,can t wait :jLife is short, smile while you still have teeth0

Ours go up at the end of term. I like to do a good clean first and then put them up. Kids are adults now but they used to think I was mean to make them wait until school had finished. I'm too busy thinking about christmas at school to get anything done at home until term ends. Roll on the holidays!!!!!!!!!!:j£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Usually around my birthday on 10th Dec. We don't go really overboard. Just a small tree in the lounge with decorations limited to around the lounge too. Not a fan of big outside light displays.
That makes me sound like a bit of a christmas grump - I'm not, honest! Have been excited for ages already but just not a fan of OTT.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

I'm at uni and I looove Christmas. I'm home for reading week this week and when I go back I only have 4 weeks to go until I'm home again for Christmas so I'll probably decorate my little room on the 1st December so I have 2.5 weeks to enjoy them in my room and get me excited about going home for Christmas. I'm so sad to be missing out on decorating a proper Christmas tree but at least when I come home all the lights and decorations will be up!0

Am I the only one who likes to wait until Xmas eve, or at the earliest the solstice (21st)?
And take them down on 12th night0 -
No - i 'm a late one too - mine go up usually the Saturday before Christmas , so this year it will be the 18th.
I try and put deccies out as late as possible to be honest, so i still feel "festive-fresh" at Christmas itself.
I think putting them up a few days, no earlier than a week before Christmas, and then having them up until 12th night - it's nearly 3 weeks - is enough.
Surprised that people really do put up decorations in mid November.
I never go overboard to be honest, these days i don't have a christmas tree, and basically just forage a few sprigs of holly, misteltoe (if i can get it!)and i put tinsel round my picture frames, and a string of lights on my patio - that's it - i keep it quite minimalist really!
I'm sure if i had kids the house would be festooned :rotfl::j0
