When do you put your Christmas decorations up?

Options
I have spent the last 2 days doing all my xmas shopping and the last 4 hours wrapping it all and writing out my xmas cards. I'm now seriously in the festive mood and am really tempted to put my decs up!!

I know it's early, but I'm really in the mood and having spent the last 8 years being told I can't put them up until mid december (I'm now divorced, absolute came through today!!!).

I said to myself I was going to wait until 1st of December but I'm getting really excited now! When do yours go up?

I put mine up on the 1st of December - usually the nearest weekend rather than the exact date :j

    Don't do it!!!

Someone in my street has done it and we all talk about them :p:rotfl:

Mine go up the second weekend in December - kids would get too over excited and miffed at the wait if I did it sooner.

I don't wait till the 12 days after though, as soon as New Year visits are over, down they come.

The room looks so much bigger once they're down :D

We do Crazy Christmas Porch and leave the rest of the house undecorated. Porch is very tiny, and the aim is to get as many decorations in as possible. If they get in the way of the door opening that's fine as it just annoys my daddy more!

  • mine dont go up till a week before as with small children and cats the tree takes a bashing, i might let the kids have some up in the extension where they play before that though

Ours take two weekends to put up

Mum's birthday was 5th December (she passed away 37 years ago, I was 8) so put them up on the 4th indoors and outdoors, but the tree is always bought on the second Sunday so this goes up that weekend.

In our house we have a mixture of our two families traditions.

OH's was bigger and tackier the better. Ours was red and gold. Our own tradiion is the real tree - would not go back to artificial again

So now we have red and gold, but bigger, with a real tree - I refuse to do tacky:eek:
