Mine go up first week of december, usually around the 4th/5th whilst DS is at school so its all up when he gets home, and they come down new years eve. But i wont put nay presents underneath at all until christmas eve after DS and DD have gone to bed as I love to see the look of awe on their faces xmas day when they come down to the underneath covered in presents where it was bare when they went to bed :D

Ours usually go up well into December but we'll do it early this year as DD1 and boyfriend are off to Italy to work on 2nd December. I heard myself saying we'll have Christmas (decorations and dinner) the last weekend they are here, which is till in November, so it looks like it'll be very early this year! It makes up for last year, when we went to visit them in New Zealand so no decoration and a BBQ in the garden!

We do quite a lot of decorating - garlands round the banisters and dresser, mobiles from ceiling and wreaths where pictures hang, decorations round curtain rails etc. so quite a bit to do when the time comes.

No - i 'm a late one too - mine go up usually the Saturday before Christmas , so this year it will be the 18th.

I try and put deccies out as late as possible to be honest, so i still feel "festive-fresh" at Christmas itself.

I think putting them up a few days, no earlier than a week before Christmas, and then having them up until 12th night - it's nearly 3 weeks - is enough.

Surprised that people really do put up decorations in mid November.

I never go overboard to be honest, these days i don't have a christmas tree, and basically just forage a few sprigs of holly, misteltoe (if i can get it!)and i put tinsel round my picture frames, and a string of lights on my patio - that's it - i keep it quite minimalist really!

I'm sure if i had kids the house would be festooned :rotfl:

That sounds perfect actually jimmy! :T

Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?

  • My parents put theirs up on first weekend of December, or when mum gets a chance to really. They don't do outside decorations but we have a 7ft tree, and various decorations like a candlebra (or whatever it is), ornaments etc but not anything hung on the walls etc as it leaves marks. Cards go on windowsills. :)

I am away at university but I have a 2ft tree that I will put up on 1st December so I can enjoy it for as long as possible (makes my room super cosy with the pretty tree lights, I love christmas trees!) might hang tinsel here and there.
