Thanks SusanC, I think I'll just do whatever feels best at the time. although hanging over the back of the bed does seem the most comfy. Plus means I can avoid eye contact with those in the room when I'm at my most undignified :rotfl:
No need for the links, I was just curious but thanks for offering.

I've googled why we should take Calcium in the last few weeks of pregnancy and still can't find anything to justify it......anyone help?

Sharkey - glad you are being treated out for tea. Absolutley no shame in having a cleaner. We have a cleaner, we've always had one. She comes in every thursday afternoon and is like our fairy godmother. Saves so many arguments. May have to jump her up to twice a week once bubs is here :rotfl:

Giz - i dont have a birth plan either and am not planning on doing one. I would like to be in the water, birth permitting but everything else I'm not too fussed about. May change my mind after my ante natal classes though. Although I think I need to go in with an open mind and keep myself open to whatever they want to suggest.

MW says baby is head down today but not engaged *phew*. Says the head is very low hence it tickling my cervix - *joy*

Flower - I know what you mean about induction, I am worried I will be the same (can't offer advice tho, sorry). Have you tried Clary sage oil - my friend is convinced 10 drops in her bath (waters broke), then 12 the next day (labour started) got things happening for her.

We don't have a bath... I'm not sure I'll get the full effect sitting in the shower tray :p

I'm going to go with an open mind tomorrow, see what the 'professionals' advise and take it from there.
    I shall let you know.

Am I the only person who is bothered? I specifically put in my birth plan that I wanted the minimum people necessary and I was extremely irritated while I was giving birth that I had five people there hollering at me to push.

Sorry susan but what exactly bothers you - the male midwife? and how on earth did you end up with 5 - were they mistaking your room for the bus stop? :rotfl:

so my book said i should be able to hear babys heart with a stethoscope by this point (24 weeks). Wasnt convinced to be honest but since i work for the NHS the option was too tempting.

Well drumrolll...... it doesnt work lol.

Such a shame as she is yet again having a quiet phase and my 25 week midwife appointment on Thursday seems too far away.

When oh when will she get regular with these movements i cant stand these quiet phases every week.

I don't have a birth plan, but I don't want 5 people shouting at me to push. Just OH and the 2 midwives. I remember the OBEM the other week where the woman seemed to have loads of people shouting at her. I definitely don't want that.

Actually I just thought I did have 5 people but luckily my birthing experience wasnt as bad as susan says hers was.
Had my mum and ds's dad there and 3 midwifes I was at home and to be honest with you noone was shouting push in a patronising way or anything I didnt feel uncomfortable in the slightest I couldnt have had a more positive birth experience.

    the three mw's were fab
1 i had been seeing the whole of my pregnancy so when I went into labour on her shift i was happy! coz she was easy to get on with she knew me and knew the right things to say. MW 2 was a bit more bossy which was perfect for when I was being drippy and flagging! MW3 was a bit drippy which was fab when I was feeling low so all together they were the perfect compliment to my birthing experience. ds's dad was non existent hovering near door but tbh I didnt care and my mum was good for telling me I could do it.

So maybe its not how many people you have but the right combination of people. I would happily have 8 people(although it may get crowded) if they were all useful just the same id be happy with 2 if they were everything i needed.

Good luck for tomorrow. Do you think your dates are right? Mine are slightly out. Given I charted and 99% sure of when I ovulated and when I DTD, my real due date is 5th Feb. I got put back at my 12 week scan.

We are induced at 12 days over at our hospital too.

Susan, I wanted a homebirth but got talked out of it. My mum lost her first baby so it was advised that I go to hospital this time. That coupled with the stats that 40% of first timers end up being transferred to hospital sealed the deal for me in the end.

I agree Annibee, it's the right people. I've just told hubby not to tell me to push or anything and to let the midwife do the talking in the final stages :)

Hey ladies, just thought i'd pop on and share a bargain.

Asda have a pack of 10 bibs (all white but each with a different colour trim) for £3. It works out at 30p per bib so quite a nice price :)

    Hi Ladies,

Sorry just a quickie from me - I will have a proper catch up tonight.

Labour vibes to Chakani, Flower and Giz.

Giz - I can't believe you're about to drop! I remember when you got your BFP on TTC - doesn't seem that long ago!

My back is absolutely killing me today :( I swear it's this pesky chair at work as its always amplified when I'm working - my back not the chair.

GGGGRRRRRRR. Anyway I finish at 5 so not much longer left. Got 33 week MW appt after work so that should be fun. Tried to pee in my pot earlier and got the most pathetic amount out of my bladder - so Have just downed a bottle of water in the hope that will give me a decent sample.

Anyways, I did have a question - does anyone know when the Asda baby event is due to finish?

    Take care x

Yeah I think if you let your birth partner know what it is you want from them then things should be fine. I have told oh that he is there to tell me im doing a good job and not to tell me how to give birth lol!
