Hey ladies, I've had niggling pains from Fri- sharp pains down there then every so often period pains and tightenings in my tummy. I dont know if theyre BH or not but i also feel as if even though im constantly going to the toilet i am always wet... now ive just put on a pad but how will i know if this is maybe the baby pressing on my bladder or my actual waters breaking? I havent had any crippling pains or pains that have taken my breath away but i dont want to land up at the hospital and have to go home for no reason... but im assuming if i was in full blown labour id know and wouldnt be posting on here...

any suggestions? Im 35+5 today.

ps ive had a bath and taken 2 paracedamol also

Kat, not to put too fine a point on it, but waters smell rather like semen. Can you phone your MW if you're worried? They should give you a check over. Or hospital if you're really concerned.

Re maternity pads v nighttime pads - I used maternity ones for the first 2 days, then night pads for the next week or 2, then normal pads. I found that at first, the flow was very heavy, but after a couple of days it calmed down, and then I found the slimmer pads so much more comfortable. I think I bled for 4-5 weeks, and it took 2 weeks for the swelling and soreness to subside so I was comfortable sitting on a hard chair. That was a normal delivery with no stitches.

Thanks for that link, spaghetti. I've had one home birth and it was brill, planning another.

Maternity pads, last time I just used always night time, but get loads of whatever, you will not feel like going shopping for them with a tiny baby in tow.

I can't find maternity pads in sainsburys, I've hammered the baby aisle too, maybe they just don't stock them at my store, I don't really want to have to ask one of the spotty 16 year old lads to point me in the right direction.

Fairy shazza - we are going for the Zoom, it was the main contender but your advice that we can have the sola footmuffs sealed the deal, so thank you for that, plus we didnt ralise the wheels came off - the girl last week didn't know that so it fits in the boot the best out of all of them. Didn't order it then though as we have a cheap shop nearby called Lesters which undercuts all the main stores, they deliver too if anyone else wants to try

OH was wquite happy to be in the store so I took advantage, we came home with a lampshade, all the sheets and a couple of cuddly toys, SA handed us a voucer for £10 off so bargain :money:

Dusty the Zoom is cool. I haven't been in a shop so DH would gladly pay £400 to avoid it so after BFF paid £800+ I'm pleased.
I met a girl in a club today and she's getting the icandy peach which I think is the same one Natalie Cassidy got. That and the big coach-built one I used to have for dolls when I was little.

Is it weird to start getting MS now at 16 weeks? I can't seem to shake feeling bleuggh but I am feverish too so might be coming down with something I guess. Early night me thinks.

Re maternity pads, I hear the midwife will want to check them for the first few days to check its normal locia and nothing serious, ie big blood clots and therefore you need to wear the proper maternity pads that don't have the gel or stay-dry linings etc so they can have a proper nosy at its contents - I know yuck!

They sound hideous, but I've also been told that if you have stitches or are very sore and swollen down there, a bit of extra padding between you and a chair is very welcomed!
