Oh and meant to say ew ew about pads and checking them, didn't know half this stuff before getting pg (prob a good thing!)
One of the worst things IMO.....best night ever when I could go to bed in my PJ's with no underwear, bloomin' breast pads down bra, pads in pants! Yak! It aint forever mind. And midwife never asked to check mine, did ask to check stitches but I told her they were fine so left it at that.
Going to try again to go to bed....so uncomfy!:heart2:Baby boy due 4th March 2011:heart2:0 -
Going pushchair and furniture shopping with OH afterwards, love the m&p sola but going to check out the zoom as well (not deliberately copying you dusty, had my eye on the sola for a while but the zoom's so similar would be silly not to try it!)
Yeah, yeah yeah
Remember the wheels come off the Zoom, our SA last week didn't show us that but yesteday's did, she was the manager, and that sealed it for us, got it in the boot lying flat with the carry cot and not standing on the side.
Good luck with the scan today, mine is tomorrow but I am determined to stay Team Yellow so I'm not copying you on that one0 -
Just wanted to add that I've never had any MW checking pads after birth. They did ask how the bleeding and clots were etc. I had 1 stitch with DD and they just asked if me if I wanted them to check it or if it was sore. When I said it was fine they never bothered. I'd had enough if people looking up my noonoo!
Getting the stitch involved stirrups and a wee male doctor 2 inches from my bitsit was more painful than the birth!

LOL that 's the same as me, I needed loads of gas and air when i was getting stiches. I had the midwife do it and tbh things have never really felt down there since, i think she maybe done them too tightI am actually starting to feel tender at times in that area, wondered if anyone else felt it (this is over 3 years on now!). It is worrying me that i will tear again in the same place.
Midwife never check my pads either, a week after the birth I had to call her out urgently as I was in a lot of pain, it felt like labour again. She thought I maybe had an infection, but I just started passing loads of pretty large clots (sorry tmi).
Ladies don't want to scare you or anything but I wish I had known before, if you do have to get stiches you probably wont be able to go for a poo for a couple of days. I was terrified to do one as i thought the stiches would burst (not sure if that would actually happen though?). I am going to try and be more prepared for that and drink lots of water and try and eat as much veg and fruit as I can.
Oh the joys of pregnancy and birth!:D"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -

Can someone tell me if this is true? I was told by a friend that you shouldn't eat fruit (at the start at least) if you are breast feeding. That the acid gives the baby bad stomach pains.0 -
Just wondered if you managed to get the Angel monitor and how much it was ...was thinking of doubling my points up and getting this also.
Our Tesco is a good drive away, but I am sure when I saw it a couple of weeks back it was £10 cheaper than Tesco Direct...but there again it could be my dodgy eyesight !
If it is £10 cheaper I will be able to get it because I will have £70 worth of points.
I've £80 in vouchers so I'll be straight. Going to buy at lunchtime on-line. There isn't a Tesco near for me but my sister can collect it.0 -
Is it weird to start getting MS now at 16 weeks? I can't seem to shake feeling bleuggh but I am feverish too so might be coming down with something I guess. Early night me thinks.
Normal normal normal. I still get queasy at nearly 23 weeks. Nothing terrible.Re maternity pads, I hear the midwife will want to check them for the first few days to check its normal locia and nothing serious, ie big blood clots and therefore you need to wear the proper maternity pads that don't have the gel or stay-dry linings etc so they can have a proper nosy at its contents - I know yuck!
Never had that and on #3 baby. Would tell m/w to booger off.
Lush bunnies BTW.
CL just made a long edit about food and b/f then lost it. Gist is - you can eat and drink whatever you like so long as you don't get bladdered and then feed. Colic is something there it not a lot of evidence on, obv if a food causes YOUR baby probs, you may want to reduce it, but there's no evidence to show one food causes problems for all b/f babies.
Think of all those babies existing on a diet of curry for example. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -

Have never heard that before? I had to avoid some things which upset DD's tummy. One of them was fizzy drinks, and I'm sure I had to avoid curry for a wee while."That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
Morning all,
Friend came round yesterday with about 3 bags of clothes/toys/useful stuff and also this:
http://www.mountainbuggy.com/form2010/buggies/terrain
which is just amazing! (The Urban Jungle one) She hadn't used it for a few years and saw there was a flat tyre, but I looked up that apparently it's just a case of going to the local bike shop.
I posted a while back about my (nearly 80) auntie-in-law who was telling me about the health visitor coming over a few weeks before the birth and she had to lay out all baby clothes/equipment...... well this friend yesterday was joking - have you had "the inspection" yet???!!
One of the great things about Holland is that everyone gets a sort of doula/birth after care lady for 8 days after the birth. She's not there at the birth, but comes to your house - as well as helping with BF, caring for baby, she'll also help keep things clean, put a wash on, dishwasher, cook some food, make guests a cuppa etc.
I did know that they come round once before the birth for an intake/initial meeting at home - but I didn't realise they'd really be checking me out as well to see if everything's ready!!! (although it seems obvious now.......)0
