Not been the thread much but still around...
I thought, I was in labour last Saturday but after some 3 hours of intense (and rather painfull at their picks) contractions lasting 40-45 seconds, everything returned to the usual period pain/ cramping... Disappointing.
I am now EDD+10days. Enforced eviction will take place this Wednesday. So whatever happens, I should get to so my wee baby by Thursday at the latest
Still hoping it'll come naturaly as my heart and head were set on labour and delivery in birthing pool with gas and air...
Oh well, such is life

Aw flower, sorry to hear that. Sending loads of labour vibes your way. Are you allowed to have a water birth if it's just the pessary? (because we are - it's just the synoctin drip thing that means a water birth is out for us).

Yes, our gorgeous (ok mummy is biased) daughter, Nina Rose was born at 5.25 am on Friday 28th January (exactly 42 weeks) weighing 8lb 6ozs.

Birth was nothing like I planned, but it really matters for little in the end.
I'll post on the birth stories thread later if anyone wants to read.

Right now, off to introduce myself to the parents thread as I feel utterly at sea about so many things.

Congratulations to OxoClaire and hope you're making good progress OTE. Will be checking in on you ladies especially Giz, Chakani etc who are due soon and have journeyed together with.

To those asking about sewing machines etc. I love mine. If you've not had a play with one before, once you get it set up, grab some scraps of fabric (cheapy clothes from charity shops??) and just practice with the different settings and tensions. Go slowly, and mind your fingers. Just have a bit of fun with it until you're comfortable with how fast it can go and how it works. If you're anywhere near me (Bucks) I don't mind coming and showing you a few bits and pieces.

I preferred Sparkle's list as it made me 5th rather than 3rd

Ah Hngry, if only you lived closer! I did manage to sew the body parts for 1 sock monkey just after last Christmas... And I bought myself a book with patterns and the fabric to make a Kath Kitson bag... Just never got round to it... And I worry the noise might disturb the monkey child...

Krystal - I loved the noise of the sewing machine and knitting machine when I was little. It's a noise that still reminds me of good times at home, and some lovely things that my mum made me. I reckon that once it becomes a familiar noise around the house, children start to get have good associations.
