I know some of you are aware that we were burgled in May last year......well I've received a £700 voucher to be used in H Samuel or Ernest Jones to replace my stolen jewellery.
There is literally nothing I want, the jewellery that was stolen was left to me by a family member and I never wore it (really not my taste). Plus I wouldn't feel safe walking around with a £700 piece of jewellery.....which I would prob never wear anyway with a newborn
would it be so wrong to buy something with it and then try and sell it on and get cash for it (which I can then put towards a new car)?
I was thinking something like this which is worth £1000 and in the sale for £699

Is it a bit cheeky to do this?
Should I save the voucher for when I do want some jewellery (I currently wear stud earrings and a watch - not big jewellery fan)
Would I get anything near the price I paid for it if I try and sell it on?
thoughts welcome...

Im enjoying all the group hugs today. This is one of the nicest threads on the whole of MSE. Especially considering it its 98% hormonal females. But we all have the same thing in common and a lot of us are in similar situations. its great to get advice or just a virtual hug now and again.
can I have some advice please? I really need to buy some more maternity jeans. I have Mothercare over the bump ones (now minus 2 inches from the bottom, thanks to my scissors ) but they keep slipping down. Im thinking of getting under the bump M&P ones, maybe these ones

but im not sure what their sizes are like. should I just get my usual size, or go bigger?
So far any tops I have bought are all just my normal size, but I dont hink ive had anything from M&P before. Newlook only seem to have 32 and 34 leg online.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Okay ladies I need some help. So on the product page for travel system it shows woman clipping baby in whilst baby in carseat bit. So I assume it's okay. But then on other places people have been saying it's not parent facing so can you not put baby in like that? I thought that was the point of the carseat bit clipping in?

I feel a little silly asking as it's probably an obvious answer but I honestly am a little perplexed.
Yes the carseat clips in but you are not supposed to keep them in the carseat for longer than 2 hours think it is?!
So the actual pushchair has a lie flat position so you can use from birth but think baby would be facing away from you.
Think that's what you mean anyway?!0 -
Took the little one to school today and then went back to bed. I've got to say, I got up about an hour ago, had something to eat and the difference in me is amazing. I feel fantastic! So maybe I just needed some well earned kip!
Off to get a mothercare pillow later. Hopefully it will help!
Congrats Claire! What a fantastic name!
Hope all are well. Appropriate vibes all round xxBeautiful Baby Boy born 28 April 20110 -

Congrats on 24 weeks Lizbob
Dusty I would say buy something that isn't necessarily in the sale then take it back a week or so later asking for a refund as the person you bought it for already has one and has told you what she would like instead lol......
Edited to add in Nic try this site...I'm loving it and have ordered a couple of bits and bobs to see me through to the end lol (I think I should be on commission for this site lmao might contact them hehe) http://www.bonprixsecure.com/uk/Maternity-1-1954-shop.htm?id=1066936354388654067-0-4d42cee0

I don't think it cheeky at all because if you think about it, if you had the jewellery that was stolen, it would have been your choice what to do with it. In essence, you'd have been able to sell it on if you had wanted. So I don't see anything wrong with buying some and selling it on. Not sure whether you'd get the same price just anywhere but maybe if you went to a specialist buyer or something, I should think you'd get a fair return on it.A-Z Challenge: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

Sorry you've had such a carp appointment - my midwife is very sweet but can only contact her on Thursday's - otherwise can leave a voice message for her apparently but only if non urgent as she said she can take a couple of days to get back.
My MW is lovely aswell, but i assume she leaves her phone at the office until she gets back.
My old MW never answered her phone and denied that i left her messages :rotfl:
Also, my growth scan appointment time has been changed from 9:10am to 2:10pm on the 18th Feb, which is good because i get a lay in. But annoying because i have MW at 12:15pm so will have to hope she's not running late as im getting the bus to hospital.
Dusty, i would do it. I dont wear jewelry at all so it makes sense to spend it on somthing you need rather than something thats going to be in a draw for years and never worn.0 -

I wouldn't hesitate tbh. You seen the price for trade in gold at the moment? It is fantastic! Obviously you wouldn't get what you paid for it but you'd certainly get a fair whack.
The other alternative of course is seeing if family/friends/e-bay are planning on buying an expensive item that you can offset your voucher against. Anyone buying an engagement ring any time soon?
We were burgled and got the same thing. I am actually jewellery mad so bought quite a few items and had fun doing so lol. But I did consider selling the voucher on and getting the cash.Im enjoying all the group hugs today. This is one of the nicest threads on the whole of MSE. I've got the New Look Jeans. They are over the bump but rest quite nice. I think they take a lot to get used to (over the bump) but once you are they are very comfortable.Beautiful Baby Boy born 28 April 20110 -
Happy 41 week to me!
Thoroughly tired of waiting, very very big and not very mobile anymore.
Rant over.
I've started to wonder if they have got it all wrong from the start and I was actually never pregnant??! :rotfl:Those 41 pregnancy weeks were all in my head?0
