Re CB I think you have to contact them after you have registered the birth as they will need a copy of the birth certificate innit? Then once you have done CB you just phone up Tax Credits with the CB number and they sort it out then.

I'm glad it's not just me then lol! I was so paranoid in the shop afterwards that I'd get my purse out and this pot of wee would go flying across the shop!!

Thanks Teenie. I really don't understand all this tax stuff, but I just googled, filled in some calculators and it seems based on 2009-2010 income we'd be entitled to £178 (I assume over a year). Better than a kick in the teeth.

I will add this to my list of things to do when baby is born.

//edit - just reread the page - that £178 is for 2 months worth based on the assumption I had my baby yesterday and put the claim in today! Wow. So I could get an extra £20 a week tax credits this year? That would make a great difference between struggling and being a little more comfy for my maternity leave.

:rotfl:The pee talk has made me laugh - I asked midwife on the phone this morning *how* I sould 'bring a sample with me' next week as per the letter - in a jam jar? She said I could do it there if I wanted which means I'll have to drive with a 'comfortably full bladder' again - joy! Maybe they'll give me my own special one to keep - just hope I don't have to go chasing it around a car park too annibee

I pee in a plastic cup then pour it in the pot. I can't do it otherwise. I could never pee on a stick - always had to do it in a cup and dip it

No apricot I get it everywhere - be easier to aim if we had mens bits for that. although not so easy getting baby out of there :eek:

Should also say gets harder the bigger you get lol
