If you google Pelvic Girdle Pain there are a few good websites that give lots of helpful advice. When I had it last time, I was given a support belt to wear round the bump and this really helped me. It wasn't pretty and it was quite uncomfortable when sitting but really helped for moving around and walking. Also gentle swimming and aqua aerobics really helped to keep mobile but not make it more painful, was quite nice in the water to soothe the spd pain.
Thanks to everyone who repliedI think I presumed as my OH had some physio recently that I'd need to pay too, but seems I get it on the NHS. Downside is I have to wait until 15th February to be seen! And it's at the hospital, so got a half hour drive then pay for parking. There is a place that does physio nearer to me, but apparently they are booked up until March. She will ring me if they get a cancellation though.
I tried the pillow thing last night, seemed to help a bit. I don't know if it's worth getting one of those long body pillows?
I wish I'd seen the doc earlier now, but just put it down to the usual aches and pains pregnancy brings. Trouble is I'll be 29 weeks then, so I think it's gonna be even worse by the time I'm seen as I'll only get heavier
Sorry, very much having a 'woe is me' day today
Just seen your reply Giz, thanks very muchI will keep up with the pillows, and maybe an extra one behind my head.
I wish we had a dining chair to sit on, but this house is too small for a tableWe're looking to move soon though, so this is on the list as an essential as I really miss my table. Our couch is not great for the posture. It is very squidgy and I am constantly having to pull myself up. I find sitting in the car is more comfortable as have quite good seats in there. Hmm.
SJP - congrats on your last day at work! Sounds like you were thoroughly spoilt by themHave fun tonight!

In fact in our mat hospital checking you is the 1st thing they do before they show you to your room (not in the corrider obviously they have a side room). so you have no gas and air option to use - you have to put up with it.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

I have one of the body pillows. It's good because I can lie on it on my side and get it between my knees at the same time. Although several normal pillows would probably do the same job.
If you're having problems on the sofa, try some pillows there too. I have big square pillows that have been good, and I think a V one would be helpful too for sitting with. Mummy to an amazing little girl0 -

Sorry to hear that Digital - I don't think you should have to pay for your physio though? Your GP should refer you surely? Mine did for my tendonitis.
Edit: sorry baby brain - didn't realise I hadn't read the last page - doh
I'm most comfy on my back too, I find it also helps with trapped wind!0 -
Afternoon ladies and bumps!
MI3 hope things are progressing for you.
Sequeena I hope you are ok today, sorry your treatment was so bad x
digitalphase Sorry you are in pain, I have to take co-codamol every now and then, again GP knows etc, said if there are greater benefits than risks and all that.
Appointments - at each one I've been to, the midwife has made the appointment for the next on, at my 16 week appointment she gave me one for 25 weeks, my GTT and 28 week appointment. She found the heartbeat at 16 weeks with no problem:). I've also be given a pee pot to use each time, its a wider neck pot, because as the midwife said I know what pregnant ladies aim is like:eek:
Oh....sorry for shouting but...I SLEPT ALL NIGHT!!!:D:D, not even a wee break, which I'm surprised about as drank a litre of squash in 10 mins following a spicy pizza with jalapenos!! Whole nights sleep = no headache this morning as well:T
Its my 20 week scan tomorrow, bit excited but I'm still nervous and worried that something will be wrong. Sorry but can't help it!
Right just going to watch OBEM from other night.:heart2:Baby boy madbird arrived 15/06/11 by emergency csection weighing 9lb 13oz:eek: love him so much xx:heart2:0 -
At my hospital, they won't let you in the pool until 5cm, and they have to physically check you (as I suppose you can seem like you are further along but aren't iyswim), not sure if it's the same everywhere though. But however you give birth (except CS) there will be regular internals to check progress, just something they have to do to make sure you are progressing.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Hello girls hope everyone is doing ok.
I've not long got out of hospital. I was put on an anti depressant yesterday, one I've been on pre-pregnancy but it was a smaller dose. I started vomiting uncontrollably and brought up dark blood, then bright red blood.
I was taken into hospital, put on 2 drips (the normal one to hydrate you and a b vitamin drip to help with the sickness). I was also given zofran and something beginning with r.
I wish I could have stayed at the first hospital but there were no beds so I had to be transferred to another hospital and it was horrible
My catheter/drip messed up. I accidentally dropped it on the way to the loo so instead of the drip flowing into my hand the blood in my hand flowed up the tube. It should have righted itself but the blood clotted and the rest of my drip couldn't get through. I asked repeatedly for it to be checked but it never was.
I asked if this could affect baby (the reaction to the tablet) and I was told 'no but nothing is impossible' so I asked to be checked over. They tried to listen to baby's heartbeat with a stethoscope but I'm still only 12 weeks so it didn't work. I was told I'd get a doppler - which I never got. Not one person read my maternity notes. I kept getting asked if I had a water infection - it's in my notes that I have a minor one.
Luckily I didn't need an endoscopy to check what was going on in my stomach - just as well, it was only when they told me that I wasn't having one that they mentioned it carried the risk of miscarriage!
I had to discharge myself in the end. I was feeling better physically but was just so down mentally and couldn't believe how I'd been treated. The bloods I should have had in the morning if I'd stayed in the hospital I'm doing at my local hospital today - where I'm going to insist on a doppler or something.
I hope I did the right thing. I feel so much better at home, the hospital just really stressed me out.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Giz - my OH does late and night shifts but his shift pattern always changes so he does two earlys, two lates, two nights and then 4 days off. It isn't very nice being on your own but just try and relax and hopefully it will all work out.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5
