sequeena and others re layers/clothing/sleeping - Try not to overthink it too much at this stage as its very hard to determine what your lo will be like
for instance ds1 will not sleep with covers on never has doesnt matter what we do within ten mins he is lying on top of all covers and doesnt like them over him therefore we make sure room is fairly warm and when he was little we kept socks on him with his pjs lol. he just got stressed in those grobags. One of my other friends is the same however someone else we know's daughter loves loads of blankets on them (think shes 2=4 now) and therefore they have found they have to put her in shorts and short sleeved top.
You can check on them through the night just feel the back of their neck - if its not hot, sticky, clammy or incredibly cold then their alright.
Its gonna depend on the temp of the room, temp outside, how much they wriggle etc etc as well so its just one of those things you just have to make a judgment call on when their out.
*reading back dont mean to sound like i think i know it all or anything just trying to offer advice that I wish id known earlier*
Annibee did you steal my post? :rotfl: I was in the middle of typing an almost identical post, went to answer the phone, came back and DS had done something and my post had dissappeared,
I was saying the same as you about layering, and basically to wait until the baby is born as they are all different and can be pretty fussy.
If your baby likes swaddling like both mine did, then you will have to have the room cool with maybe another blanket. If they hate the covers, then you will need to have less.
I used sleeping bags from when they stopped being swaddled, so at about 1 month. Mine were June and August babies so I had summer sleeping bags.
I also remebered the thing about feeling the back of their necks. Id forgotton about that.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -

The town we used to live in has the best Chinese restaurant ever. It's the only thing I miss since moving here, just a bit too far for deliveries anymore. But it's my brithday a week on Sunday, so DH and I will be going that weekend sometime. :T I've been craving it for weeks, the ones here just aren't the same. Mmm, vegetable chow mein and egg fried rice..... Mummy to an amazing little girl0 -

Dont know what DS did, but when id came back my post was replaced with paypal and a note saying 'This person cannot accept payments'

The whole birth thing is contributing to my mini freak out I think. I've been in a terrible mood for the last 2 days. Grumpy and weepy is not a good combination really.
I also had to laugh at the booklet I got from the hospital. It has a list of what to bring in your bag (or more like what not to bring!) and it has at the end - Baby clothes if desired. :rotfl:
It also says this about bags -
Small is beautiful….!There is limited bed locker/cupboard space. Your cooperation in keeping floor space clear promotes a safe environment.
Whaaa? Are you allowed to leave them naked? lol
I think I might jump on the Chinese band wagon. I've already said to OH it's take out tonight!0 -
I have no idea how to keep baby warm, I don't even know what to put it in, will a short sleeve grow be enough with some little booties or do I need a sleepsuit on top?? August baby... I'm so confused :rotfl:
Hi!
And I'm not worried about baby being too cold as it's due in July. I'm more worried that I'll roast it by accident!!!A-Z Challenge: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

Back from my long walk and you ladies have been chatty.
Sammy - those tubs do look like glorified buckets don't they. I have read that initially you should only be topping and tailing anyway as bathing and using baby toiletries is too drying on their skin, so all that bull about them recreating the atmosphere in the womb etc sounds like just that to me!
DP - I only did the NHS antenatal classes and was perfectly happy with them. Didn't expect to learn much as I've done so much reading myself but they were run by our midwife team so it was good to get to know them better and of course meet couples having babies around the same time. In fact one couple in our class said they found our classes better than the NCT ones they were doing. I've heard NCT can be a bit right-on and militant in their views. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
