What a lovely scan pic. Brought it all back .My MW was saying that the 20 week scan is really special ,not sure I want to look at the screen incase I see any bits , lol. Cant believe I felt so ill yesterday as I feel great today. Roll on the weekend , yay.OH is taking me out for a sunday run in the car and we are going to get some lunch , cant wait. Can you buy new matresses for travel cots? My mum and dad dont have the room for a cot but would like to have bubs over night (yay !!!) and Ive been offered a travel cot from a friend but with the worry over cot death etc I would feel safer getting a new mattress. My mum and dad are being great I knew they would be happy but never imagined them to be this happy.I think a few people were mentioning in early posts that they had lost a parent and it they are sad there parents wont get to see LO. My big brother died a few years ago and Ive thought on and off how great he wouldve been as an uncle , its strange how birth makes you think of death really. Anyhoo on a positive note hope everyone has a good w/e

just a quick question for all those who are or going to bottle feed, ive been told most hospitals dont supply baby milk anymore and you have to take your own in??? 8 years ago with my son it was all supplied in the little glass bottles. they are trying to encourage people to breast feed.
It may depend on your hospital so you should ask your MW. I've seen the store cupboard in our antenatal/postnatal ward (for some reason that's where they keep the scales for weighing you) and they have stacks of the stuff in what looks like ten million different varieties.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my question :o We can't get any help towards the NCT classes as OH earns just over the threshold for help. It's annoying as he doesn't earn enough for both of us, and yet earns too much for much help :(
The calculator comes out as child benefit and tax credits at £41.30 a week, if I have put in the correct figures for OH's wages. So about £165 a month. Better than nothing for sure :o

Well... I can finally move over to this thread now, I'm 12+1 and due August 4th. So far it's flown but sickness is kicking my a!se.

I'm due to start anti depressants again on Monday, I have to see a consultant and substance midwife... I'm not looking forward to it, but if it's the best thing then I will do it :(

Congrats Sequeena, and welcome :) Can I ask what kind of tablets you are on? :o

    Hi everyone,

Haven't had a chance to properly catch up, will do so over weekend hopefully. Hope everyone is well.

Well we finally had our scan on Wednesday - baby was very acommodating and stayed still, then soonafter pic was taken had a little stretch (like waking up, it was 8am....) and then back to snoozing probably! We saw the heartbeat and also the bladder, which gets brownie points for baby apparently at this stage as means a kidney / eating is all in motion which is excellent.

Was very emotional as you can imagine and hubby can't stop looking at the pic :) I guess it's harder for men to really connect with the baby unti; them see them as until that point they only go on the pregnancy test and what we say we're feeling :o

    Lovely pic Sparkle :D

I will leave the formula then. We aren't particularly close to any shops, certainly not 24/7 ones, but will just have to see how we get on I suppose :)

Was talking to my OH about the birth after watching OBEM the other night and he thought the plan was - he drops me off at hospital when I go into labour and I "give him a ring" when the baby is about to be born - um I don't think so!

Am I the only one that worries that little arms will get cold in a sleeping bag? :o(over protective mum to be!)
As long as they have long sleeves on in the colder weather, they are fine. Unless baby is being swaddled, it's arms would probably be out of the covers anyway, so no different to being in a sleeping bag.

Mothercare do THESE ones, which we use. Most travel cots have mattresses that are a foldable board (forming the base of the cot) with a padded layer on top so you'd have to still use the mattress if that's how your one is, otherwise there will be no proper base on your cot. But DS found this very uncomfortable so we always used an extra mattress on top (the one I linked to, others are available), and most people I know do the same, so just get a new one to go on top.

digitalphase I was on 75mg venlafaxine (previously been on citalopram, prozac and sertraline). I'm not taking them currently but it's hard trying to regulate my mood, especially with hormones on top.

I wanted to cry because I got the bus home yesterday instead of walking (I live on a mountain). It's getting harder to walk up and down the hills now but why would I want to cry over it??? Crazy hormones.

GarnetLady Im so mixed up with clothing , bedding and layers etc. My bubs will be sleeping in the cot from day 1 and we have a sleeping pod/bag from MandPs a millie and borris one. It says we can use from newborn ( my SIL recently had a baby and used hers from new born) Might not use it if other people arent but for the purpose of the question lets say we use it. So I need to put a sheet over mattress ,baby will be in nappy vest and sleepsuit ,then into sleeping bag is that it ? (baby will be born in July ) or do I put a sheet over the sleeping bag?
Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

I'm a little concerned that we're going to have to have a talk about what I do and don't want at the birth st some point. He's a nice guy but I think he'd just go along with whatever the hospital said tbh.
Sounds similar to my husband - he doesn't like to make a fuss about things and hates the idea of calling into question people who are supposed to be the experts. This is one reason why I intend to have a doula this time.
