Aww bless you hun. I can see why you're so upset, I'd be the same. The MIL is not a suitable replacement for your OH, I can't imagine having my OH's mum at our baby's birth
Me neither but my MIL was there for her other DIL's labour (although in addition rather than as a replacement) and would have been at the birth if it hadn't ended up as a CS. I would choose her over my own mum though.

I got DD loads of different ones over the year and a half she was in em, and the worst one was actually a proper Grobag one, zipped up the front and was a right faff. Much prefer the popper on shoulders ones.
I preferred the ones with poppers on the shoulder earlier on (especially when she already had her thumb in her mouth when I put her in it) but later on I found the other type better as they can get out of the ones with poppers on the shoulder more easily.

I have tried to let oh take the lead (again under careful supervision and nudging in the right direction ;)) too and tried to be as 1st time as I can - reading the pregnancy books with him and learning again (i didnt get very excited when I was last pg due to the issues i was having with ds1's dad so i think i am still leanring this time around)

Also all of ds1's stuff was bought either by my mum or his dads side and we're reusing it all and oh doesnt seem to mind just sometimes I feel like ive done it all before and i dont want him to feel left out - just me being silly really as none of this will have crossd his mind I can guarantee.

I've got to buy everything all over again - my youngest is nearly 7 now so didn't keep anything except for locks of hair and first teeth etc...

Just wondering what is everyone's experience of raspberry leaf tea? Is it OK from 36 weeks? Is it worthwhile? Would anyone recommend it (or not?). All opinions would be greatly appreciated. I'm under the impression that it helps with a quicker labour (but doesn't bring it on early). I'm thinking anything has got to be worth a try
I tried it last time round, established labour was 16 hours before being taken for caesarian - if that was it shortened, I'm glad I didn't get the full length version. I asked the midwives attending to me during labour about it and they said it's something that works for some people and does nothing for others, so it's worth a try but may have no effect whatsoever! I haven't bothered this time round.

Have been looking at pushchairs today. I'm very scared of having it in the house before the birth as I can guarantee that OH will try to sit in it and probably break it. Yes, he is that immature.

We bought ours, got it out as soon as we got home, DH practised putting it up and down and was showing off how quickly he could do it. He opened the hood and pushed the bars down either side to hold it open, then forgot he'd done that and tried to fold it all down to put it away. In his rush, he pushed very hard as it wasn't closing properly (because the hood was still open) and the bars both snapped, leaving us with a hood that flopped over when the pushchair was up. Naughtily, we took it straight back to the shop and told them it was like it when we got it out the box and they replaced the pushchair!

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Welcome Sequeena. I'm on meds for a bowel condition and at times I feel guilty about it. But at the end of the day, mummy needs to be healthy and happy and if you need the meds for that then so be it.

I found this quite interesting in regards to bedding - http://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/buyingforbaby/cotscribsbedding/bedding/

Am I the only one that worries that little arms will get cold in a sleeping bag? :o(over protective mum to be!)
 Mummy to an amazing little girl

I have a question for galvanziersbaby - after having Sam last week I said never again to any more children because the birth was so traumatic for me, however now he's a week old I'm starting to think again whether I could actually go through it. Do you think if I was to speak to the community midwife before I TTC and explained I would like another baby but only if I could have a guaranteed section they would be happy to approve it? I don't know the rules about elective sections, does there have to be an underlying reason?
Your hospital should have some kind of afterthoughts service where they can talk through your birth with you and any questions you have about it so I imagine that would probably be a good place to ask about something like that. I don't know the details of your birth but I do know someone on the parent thread who had problems with the birth and was told that she would be able to have an elective CS next time so it is not unheard of but would presumably depend on the individual circumstances.
