he did comment that the lining of my womb was paper thin apparently and I had made the correct choice having the section
I've no regrets personally but I know others who would have liked to have given birth naturally

I really couldn't decide which way to go for this birth, good reasons for and against both for my case - wish they could look at my uterus and decide if it is 'too thin' or not and make the decision for me! Apparently there is 'only' a 0.2% chance of rupture but still...it does happen!

Struggling atm, v depressed and tearful. Not really coping at work. I'm hoping a bit of rest over the weekend will help.

Can someone help re pillows? My hip and back have started to hurt at night and currently sticking the duvet between my legs helps me drop back off. Is there a good cheap pillow anyone would recommend, do I need one if I'm planning to bf and will I be able reuse it for that?
19 weeks today. Feels a bit early to have to worry about it - but my lower back is telling me otherwise!

I sympathise - I am a couple of weeks behind you and this has started to happen to me again - I think it's called sciatica - I just use a normal pillow between my legs which helps but may take the advice of some of you good ladies on here and get a proper pillow!

Yes - it's a shame they can only tell afterwards - to be honest I did wonder if the thin lining was down to the fact that I took the morning after pill with DD (it didn't work clearly!)
I was reassured that there was no research to suggest DD had been harmed but one of the things the pill does is thin the lining of your womb isn't it to make the egg less likely to attach?

God - feel awful talking about DD like that - wouldn't be without her now - but at the time my marriage had well and truly gone t*ts up and was less than ideal to have her.

just a quick question for all those who are or going to bottle feed, ive been told most hospitals dont supply baby milk anymore and you have to take your own in??? 8 years ago with my son it was all supplied in the little glass bottles. they are trying to encourage people to breast feed.

MW talked about BF at the booking appointment and when I explained that I didn't want to BF she said 'Well if you don't want to breast feed then you'll have to bring your own bottles and formula because we won't provide any. But it's your choice.'

You could tell she was anti bottle feeding but I just smiled and said 'well that's fine, I'll make sure to pack some.'

I think she was hoping that having to bring my own would make me change my mind for some bizarre reason!

Was talking to my OH about the birth after watching OBEM the other night and he thought the plan was - he drops me off at hospital when I go into labour and I "give him a ring" when the baby is about to be born - um I don't think so!

LOL! My OH has to catch 2 trains to get here and it's a 3 hour journey and his thoughts on the matter were 'Well when you go into hospital give me a call and i'll try to get a train when I can.' I reminded him there are no trains in the middle of the night and he said 'Yes but I'll just wait until morning. That way I can pop into work and let them know I won't be there, too.' At which point I was close to murdering him.

Pixie - why can't they come to you rather than the pregnant woman going to them!!??

There'd be no space. Aunt's household is a rather large one (about 11 people) and my father doesn't take holidays because he can't afford to. He works all year round, through the summer and everything. So it's just weekends he has off. He couldn't really come for just a weekend as he lives so far from the airport that it just wouldn't work. Also then my stepmother and stepsisters would want to come too and it would be chaos. I compromise by skyping them all instead :)

    Hi everyone :D

Had my 3rd antenatal class last night. Was very interesting and suddenly becoming very real  How do you learn so much overnight??

Just wondering what is everyone's experience of raspberry leaf tea? Is it OK from 36 weeks? Is it worthwhile? Would anyone recommend it (or not?). All opinions would be greatly appreciated. I'm under the impression that it helps with a quicker labour (but doesn't bring it on early). I'm thinking anything has got to be worth a try :)

Morning lady bumps.......and big hugs to all the insomniacs.....I feel a little guilty reporting that I had a good night and was only up once for a toilet break. I think it may have been down to the fact that my dad has had some good news as to part of his help and is still in remission from his bladder cancer (he has had it now for 18 years) also he is looking so much healthier than I have seen in a while and they have determined his breathlessness is down to a raving heart and not the COPD :)

That's brilliant, what a relief for you all x
Hitchins - I have 2 grobags and was going to get some more but I wasnt sure if they were ok to use on a newborn??? But if youve already used them before then I think that I will just go ahead with them. Thanks xx

I thought they were OK to use for newborns as well. Admittedly both of my sleeping bags are second hand M&P ones, and don't mention anything on the label. 0-6mths I'm sure they are, no minimum weight. Confusing huh? Will ask next time I go in there. Won't be buying them brand new though!

    Sorry, meant to add

Lady in M&P told me that sleeping bags are not recommended until baby is at least 10lb, so maybe not to be used as soon as bubs is born, but maybe not long after? Obv, depends on their birth weight lol

Thanks, will ask next time I go in.

I'm afraid that you do have to pay. Mine was £250, which sounds like a lot, but we have 4 saturday sessions which are 3 hours each, a women's only session and a feeding session. Cost is for me and DH and includes Tea and biscuits. So far what I've learned has been well worth it and very reassuring, so I'm happy with the cost. They like you to finish the course about 4 weeks before you're due, although my last session is 3 days before my EDD. If you want to do NCT I'd get it sorted asap to be honest.

Sounds good, but noway can we afford that :( We have to manage on OH's wage alone, plus no sort of maternity pay for me, so all money going on bills and baby stuff now. Shame! NHS for us I think.

It's really annoying you can only quote a certain number of people in posts. I opened a new window as well, and tried multiquoting again, but still only quoted a few :mad::mad:

I intend to BF, but what if I can't? Is it worth getting some formula just in case. Gosh, it's so expensive, I really hope I am able to BF.

Does anyone know where we can find out about any benefits we may be entitled to? Apparently we're entitled to child tax credit and benefit, which I think worked out about £100 a month. I am trying to do some self employed work, but in reality it hasn't happened yet. So we're really struggling. No SMP or anything :(

I've been having a real 'can't be bothered day'. Got to sleep late, got up late, done some washing, that's it. Just been watching T.V. and on the Net. Thankfully it's the weekend tomorrow so will have OH to help me keep occupied. Better get up now and hang washing out, as back is starting to hurt again from sitting still.

I'm sure there were other posts I meant to reply to :o Labour vibes to those who need them!

Exactly what it says :P My cousins moved abroad when they were very young and during a conversation one night when they were home visiting for a wedding some of my cousins that are still here brought up the subject of shaving (It was a hen night and a drunken convo to say the least) well anyways it was discussed that the European way is to not shave unless really really necessary lol...that was all I didn't mean to offend you :o:D
