I haven't seen this week's OBEM yet - will catch up tomorrow night when kids are in bed
I have explained what will happen to my OH (it's his first but my third) - and he is excited
Hi Galvanizer - this is my 2nd baby and my oh's first - how do you talk about it - sometimes I feel as if Im being too "know it all" and I dont want him to feel left out - does this even make sense?:o
my oh is wonderful and v supportive - takes everything in his stride but im very concious to not be mentioning what ex was like at birth so its hard to say what i want and what i dont without saying - this wasnt helpful last time iykwimI, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Lillian - Just a quickie, but I was a very traumatic birth for my mum, to the extent she didnt want any more children and had to stay in hospital for 2 weeks after I was born to recover. 4 years later my brother arrived and she had a natural delivery but she was considering a Csection, the only thing that tipped it was that he was predicted to be around 6lb with a small head where as I was 8lb15oz with a big head. The best thing to do would be have a word with your MW as every area has different views on everything! From my experience C-section is a lot calmer and easier to plan for but you just have to factor in the recovery time.

Sorry, I missed this before. Thanks for sharing - TBH 8 days on I'm still quite incapacitated by my epi stitches so if I knew I was going to have a c-section OH would be able to factor it in for his holidays and extend paternity leave etc - this time he's only started his leave today because S was so early and he hadn't finished his handover!
As for bottle milk in hospital, I BF while I was there but did notice little bottles of SMA with a teat attached all over the patient day room so I imagine that's what they gave mums - this was at St Marys in Manchester. My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Dusty, glad the lump is okay.
Coops, I'd be fuming, of course he needs to be there. Serious words need to be had with his work.
Apparently there was a discussion about pregnancy and birth at DH's work. He was advised to stay up round my head and not to look down below! :rotfl:
I'm a little concerned that we're going to have to have a talk about what I do and don't want at the birth st some point. He's a nice guy but I think he'd just go along with whatever the hospital said tbh.
I also found a generalised consent form in my notes. One for major and one for minor procedures that basically gives them permission to do what they want. I'm not signing it as I don't want assisted delivery, I'd rather they sectioned in those circumstances. I suppose I need to have a talk to a MW at some point too.
The whole thought of having a baby and being a mum is panicking me at the moment. Don't get me wrong, she's very much wanted, but wow, scared! Mummy to an amazing little girl0 -

looks like i might have to buy something like this.

just popped in to say i'm still here (but can't keep up with this thread).
- milk --> I used SMA with DS1 (cause thats what my mummy told me to use)........ after the 1st tin I moved him onto cow and gate as it was cheaper (ever little helps). If your babies are sicky it's not always the powder - just to bear in mind. My DS suffered from reflux but it took us months to work that out, as he didn't cry or anything after feeding he was just sicky. It was only by someone suggesting we try her baby gaviscon and it stopped it instantly that I went to dr and got him diagnosed. Well I say diagnosed I went in said "he's got reflux - baby gaviscon seems to do the trick, 1 half in each bottle, can I have some" a voila no questions "ohh aren't you a clever mummy, here's a repeat prescription if you need to come back do if not don't!". (have kept a leftover box incase this one is the same).
hospital - I'm not even contemplating b/f'ing with this one. I am gonna buy some c&g ready cartons (as they have a long use by date on) and pack a couple in my hospital bag with some steralised bottles.
re: stitch in bump: I rememebr having that with DS1 from (ohh can't rememeber ages) before he was born......
........ this one just likes sitting in my ribs so every so often walking is sheer agony.
And have decided today I can no longer power walk - after having to stop 5 times on a 15 min buggy push to the childminders.
Had great fun teasing bump last night. he doesn't like me curling my legs in front of him when i am laid in bed (must constrict his space) - so just to be a pain i kept doing it so he would kick daddy. Then I'd lay them flat we'd wait for him to snuggle comfy again - then lift them back up.
hey he deserves it - has been a right worm the last few weeks. decided at 1.30 the other morning he was going to have a fight with the mattress for an hour.
99 days to go.........................loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

hehe yeah of course I restarted the one with you earlier lol...is it still running????
:rotfl: Chickywiggle that made me giggle as I would lie against my hubby's back sometimes to let him feel the kicking I am getting lol he then tells bubs off and I defend him saying if he wasn't kicking me I would be worried heheThe pod landed and produced baby Timothy on 10th March 20110 -
wow lotty they are expensive - especially as I remember my niece wouldn't even get through half a bottle and by her next feed it had to be thrown out! (Edit: its slightly cheaper in Asda if you have one near you)
I agree with breastfeeding being promoted in hospital but surely they realise that many mothers have made up their minds beforehands so not providing formula just makes it more inconvenient for the mum!:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0 -
