Hey peeps
Quick question for those of you who've bought pants / nighties for after the birth, how did you know what size to get? I am going to have a look in Pradamark today, but at 29 weeks I just have no idea (and can't picture) what I'll be like at 40!!
I'm usually a 12 and that seems okay in maternity wear but was hoping to get some cheap pants I could chuck afterwards. Also (those of you who've been through it) would you recommend getting the big granny up to your belly button ones?
Thanks

I would recommend the up to the waist in case you end up with a section - perhaps go to a 14-16 if you are usually a 12 as your tummy won't go back completely - on the other hand you don't want them falling down!
Think if you buy the belly button ones you should be ok as they are also a bit better at anchoring in the jumbo size maternity towels! x0 -

What formula are you planning to use & why? DS was BF for 6 months & then had to go on prescription formula so I've no experience of shop bought ones. I plan on BF this one but due to health issues I know I wont be able to do it for long so am trying to think/plan ahead. Thank you
I'm using SMA because it was the first one I picked up in the rush of deciding to BF - Sam seems to have taken to it well so we're sticking with it. Just on a MSE note, my mum tried to buy us a load of tubs this week in Boots with points, and you can't spend any kind of loyalty points/vouchers on milk for less than 6 months as it's illegal. So instead we stocked up on 6 months plus with a long shelf life!Rockinbikergal wrote: »Hiya Lilian
I know I'm not galvanziersbaby and I'm not speaking from experience myself but my SIL had 3 sections as her babies were all within 2 years of each other and she was told that if she wasn't offered the section she could have asked for it......HTH xxxxgalvanizersbaby wrote: »[/B]
Hello Lilian
Hope you and the little guy are recovering nicely now - sorry to hear about the traumatic birth.:(
Without knowing what the problems were in your case but a friend of mine suffered great trauma after the birth of her son (he was very large - she tore badly - I won't go in to detail) but when she became pregnant again with her 2nd she requested an elective c section and this was granted - I think if you are determind and stick to your guns there is a good chance they will allow it.
I am not certain on the rules as such and I don''t think they are obliged to perform a section but they should certainly be sympathetic.
I won't patronise you by saying that it's very soon after the birth of Sam to be ruling out natural childbirth cos I myself have no experience of this but do talk to your Health visitor and others about it if you need to (I'm sure there is a thread somewhere on here)
In my own case my history goes a bit like this
1st DS - found to be lying breech at routine 39 week appt - was offered option to turn but consultant unhopeful due to babies size and available room left! - offered c section and accepted
2nd DD - concieved when DS was 9 months old (oops! - you are supposed to wait around 24 months between babies if you have had a section) - consultant advised another elective section due to the fear of rupture of the womb
3rd baby - will have another elective section at 38 weeks - I could have a trial of labour if I desired but having had 2 by CS I am quite happy to have another.
Sorry for such an essay  - I hope you are ok Lilian and recovering x
Thanks both - that's great advice. Obviously, I might change my mind and go for natural again if I do have another baby but it's nice to know there would be another option if I wanted it.My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

That's the ones I got - I'm a 12 and just bought the 12-14 ones, they were a tiny bit tight but I just rolled down the waistband a bit. I also got 12-14 nighties, the button down thigh length ones and they were fine.My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Back from docs.
He gave me some anti-flammatory gel for the carpal tunnel but Mr Tesc0 doesn't have it in stock so they are ordering it in for me tomorrow.
I mentioned about the skin tag on my neck which I want removing. Previous doc said it would have to be after birth cos of it needing a local anethestic but todays doc (who I love) said he can whip it off now in the surgery, so just waiting for them to send me an appt.
PLUS - the lump is nothing more that an inflamed follicle. :j He had a good feel and said he can feel that it is in the skin rather than on the tissue and cos it is painful means that it is a sore rather than a lump, iykwim.
He said it's caused by too much shaving of the pitsso I'm not to shave for a few weeks  and it should clear itself up.
Very relieved.
ema - I'm a 12 too (suprise suprise) and I got a lovely dark button down nightie from sainsbos in the sale. I got a 14 and it is very roomy still - worth checking them out?
I'll also be heading to Primarni in the near future.
In other news, 30 weeks today . It sounds so close now that I am in the 30s......;)0 -

Em I was a size 12-14 when I got preggers and am only using the belly button ones so I go and buy the next size once they start getting tight (bubs doesn't like anything stretching over the bump and makes it quite well known when he thinks they are too tight lol) I have just gone up to size 16 atm and have got size 18s as well up the stairs which I won't mind throwing out after but got just to make sure I had enough. They were £1 per pack in Matalan HTH
Also got a couple of nighties in Peacocks for £3.00 each in size 16 to give me room to move around in lolThe pod landed and produced baby Timothy on 10th March 20110 -
Morning ladies, full night's sleep for me, not one toilet visit - YE HA!
No action here though, just waiting in for an Argos delivery then going for a nice long walk as MW recommended, to try to get baby to bounce on my cervix and jolly everything along.
Coops - I'm totally in agreement and would probably have reacted the same - OH is the only one I want there, I'm definitely not invite everyone round and we'll all have popcorn during the show kinda-girl! I think he needs to have a serious talk to work if they are hinting at forthcoming trips for him.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
That's great news Dusty just go European for a few weeks hehe I'm covered in skin tags atm and was told by my Dr that they would wait and see if they fell off on their own following the birth and if not then I could have the worst of them removed in the surgery
Yay for a full night's sleep MI3 you feel good when that happens don't you (although at this time I really want to go back to bed lol)The pod landed and produced baby Timothy on 10th March 20110 -
digitalphase wrote: »Thanks! Do you have to pay for the NCT ones though, think I read somewhere you do. My OH's sister had her antenatal classes in our local village hall, so would be good if we could do the same. I'll have to have a look. At how many weeks do you normally start going? I thought 28 weeks.
I'm afraid that you do have to pay. Mine was £250, which sounds like a lot, but we have 4 saturday sessions which are 3 hours each, a women's only session and a feeding session. Cost is for me and DH and includes Tea and biscuits. So far what I've learned has been well worth it and very reassuring, so I'm happy with the cost. They like you to finish the course about 4 weeks before you're due, although my last session is 3 days before my EDD. If you want to do NCT I'd get it sorted asap to be honest.
Pixie - for a while all I could eat was bagels and marmite, and for a few weeks I could only stomach potatoes with butter. Just eat what you can when you can.
Good luck at the hospital 2GFM
Coops - I used a tea-tree and witch hazel foot lotion on my last coldsore which seemed to help. Just applied it with a coton bud. The tee tree and witch hazel seemed to help heal it and the lotion part of it stopped it drying out and cracking so quickly. HTH
That's great news RBG
Sammi - we went mid-range. I didn't like the look of the cheapest one as it seemed to be foam covered in plastic and I thought that baby would just get sweaty sleeping on plastic. I certainly didn't want to buy the one that was filled with hand-plucked unicorn fur, sewn together by elves using gold thread and sprinkled with magic dust. Well I assume that's what it was judging by the price!
ermmm....can't remember much else. Trying to get motivated to do stuff today. So far done half of my tax return, but can't do the rest till I visit the bank tomorrow and speak to student loans company.
Off to do the washing up and put some washing on I think........in a minuteIf having different experiences, thoughts and ideas to you, or having an opinion that you don't understand, makes me a troll, then I am proud to be a 100% crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living Troll. :hello:0
