I have bought flat sheets and fitted sheets for the cot but I am not sure about blankets. They say not to use a quilt or fleece blankets and to use cellular ones. Is this advice relevant do you think? They sell feece blankets for baby so they can't be all that bad?
I have no idea what the answer is but I wouldn't assume that something is good just because it is allowed to be sold. All the advice says not to put your child in shoes until they are walking and then only when they are outdoors but you can buy special shoes for babies who are still crawling. And I wouldn't describe cigarettes as "good" but shops still sell them.

Today i think i am 36+5, I have a 2nd growth scan today and another on Wednesday.

Measuring just over 32 weeks for fundal height, on my first growth scan at 30 weeks bubs was showing as being 3lb8oz so shall see later how much he has grown, if any.

:eek::eek:OMG:eek::eek::eek:OMG You have completely freaked me out that they are telling you 3 and a half lb is small, my scan at 29+1 (6 days earlier than you) my baby was estimated as 903g which would be 2lb they said it was small but they weren't overly concerned! well I am now!

I assume the fleece sheets and quilt thing could be an overheating issue? - I think as with most things - a certain amount of commonsense is required ;)

    Hi everyone,

Haven't had a chance to properly catch up, will do so over weekend hopefully. Hope everyone is well.

Well we finally had our scan on Wednesday - baby was very acommodating and stayed still, then soonafter pic was taken had a little stretch (like waking up, it was 8am....) and then back to snoozing probably! We saw the heartbeat and also the bladder, which gets brownie points for baby apparently at this stage as means a kidney / eating is all in motion which is excellent.

Was very emotional as you can imagine and hubby can't stop looking at the pic :) I guess it's harder for men to really connect with the baby unti; them see them as until that point they only go on the pregnancy test and what we say we're feeling :o

I picked up one in Mothercare in the end - mid range at £99.99 - and I used a £100 gift card so all :money:

Now, all I ned is the shetes, cellular blanket, bouncer/rocker and something for the bath. Any ideas gratefully received :)

My sister used this for the first time last night. Apparently her boy loves it. Can I just use a bucket??? ;):D

Susan - yeah, I wish I was able to do that too but it's amazes me that I work with some folk who are not in any way shape or form well off but they don't shop around. Just buy the first thing they see. Now that, I don't understand.
Maybe nobody ever taught them that kind of thing. Before we were married, my husband used to eat loads of marmalade but he always bought the small jars. It took me months to convince him that it was worthwhile to buy the bigger jars as his parents always bought the smallest packets of everything and he didn't appreciate the benefits of buying a larger packet if it's better value and you use it quickly enough.

digitalphase I intend to breastfeed and am not going to get any forumla - I think it might be too tempting to just use it. Are you far from the shops? I have a 24 hour asda 5 mins away so I figured if im really desperate for forula - OH can go there and get some.

Quite right. If you concentrate on feeding to the exclusion of all else in the first week or so, it will all be good.

Have been looking at pushchairs today. I'm very scared of having it in the house before the birth as I can guarantee that OH will try to sit in it and probably break it. Yes, he is that immature.

I think its a breathability issue, fleecy blankets are fine for outdoors, buggies and so on, but not for bedtime as they aren't breathable.

And this links in to overheating.

    eta very lovely pic, sparkle

When I got up tonight OH asked when I thought baby might come. I dunno???? Why? His boss wants him to go out to africa for a job. Unknown duration. Or that there might be an offshore job coming up and he might have to go to that mid March!!!!!!
I got all upset as the sudden thought of him not being there for me when I go into labour was terrifying. I was in floods of tears and that's not really me.
I'd be upset in that circumstance.

    Hello

Yes I do know what you mean about sounding know-it-all - I keep taking over a bit - OH wants to be involved with everything from choosing stuff for the baby (DD also keen to help) down to actually being there.

We have been together over 5 years now and he has seen the pics of DS and DD with my ex at birth - so think he is a bit desensitised in that respect but I do know what you mean - it is tricky sometimes.

With some aspects of my previous pregnancies and afterwards he is already aware of what my ex was like - contributed to some of the reasons for our divorce - I think he is being ultra careful not to make the same mistakes bless him - though he couldn't even if he tried :o

We are supposed to be going out pushchair shopping this weekend and I am going to make an effort to let him and DD take the lead - under my careful supervision of course ;)

I have tried to let oh take the lead (again under careful supervision and nudging in the right direction ;)) too and tried to be as 1st time as I can - reading the pregnancy books with him and learning again (i didnt get very excited when I was last pg due to the issues i was having with ds1's dad so i think i am still leanring this time around)

Also all of ds1's stuff was bought either by my mum or his dads side and we're reusing it all and oh doesnt seem to mind just sometimes I feel like ive done it all before and i dont want him to feel left out - just me being silly really as none of this will have crossd his mind I can guarantee.
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
