  • Oh get an epilator and some Emla cream....Lol! Mines AMAZING!!!! And i'm a wuss lol.

I think you're a lovely size Chakani - not too small to feel worry yet not too big to take LO to the park and actually enjoy it :D

DustyStar - Please forgive me as i haven't read back but funily enough somehow you just make the finances work. I did - i got made redundant just days before DD was born and no payout as we'd all changed contracts (jammy company) and if you'd have told me i had to survive on just Maternity Allowance (which i believe was just £90 a week) i'd have never believed you....yet somehow i made it work.

My best arguement for breastfeeding (sounds silly but even above the nutritional value) is the fact it is totally free! That appealled to me so much when i found out i wouldn't have a job to return to. I was hoping to b/feed anyway for the norm reasons, but that totally made my mind up that i would b/feed for as long as poss and not stop at 6 months when i was due to go back to work as i would have otherwise. :D Saved me a small fortune!!!! :p

  • Must say but i totally am not against those who don't want to B/feed!!! Lol...just had to make that clear :D It's a choice at the end of the day and you chose what suits YOU and YOUR baby the most ;)

  • Can I just have a  about my new maternity jeans.

Got em off ebay. M+P ones quite cheap. Tried them on and all seemed fine and they fitted well. They're designed to be under the bump. Just wore them for the morning and spent the whole time hoiking them up. The depth from the waist to the crotch hasn't been reduced at all to account for them being under the bump trousers, so the crotch is saggy and annoying most of the time. Am now trying to get them to stay on my bump instead.

On the bright side, I've been discharged from consultant care as they say that baby is growing fine. Now just got to keep my legs crossed for a week, so that if I go in to labour I can use the birthing centre rather than the hospital. Am 2/5 engaged now.

Can't remember who else said that their BH were uncomfortable. Mine too. They give me backache and really painful ribs :( but according to the website that DH read, BH are 'painless'.
If having different experiences, thoughts and ideas to you, or having an opinion that you don't understand, makes me a troll, then I am proud to be a 100% crying, talking, sleeping, walking, living Troll. :hello:

I understand about money worries. And to be fair, the problem isn't with OH. It's with me. I'm used to having my own money and not have to ask for it. OH pretty much pays for everything and I pay a set amount every week. It's certainly not much in comparison to what he pays and i'm really lucky that he pays it without quibble every month and happily looks after our family. I worry that because i'm self employed that I won't be earning anything at all during maternity leave and will have no money at all. It is an unnecessary worry because I know he will look after us and he gets angry with me for worrying about this stuff when he has told me this time and time again. I still worry :(

Anyhow... for those mentioning Asda and stuff on offer - just another thought. We were in mothercare last week. Everything Advent is pretty much half price. So for those who wanted a bottle warmer and was umming and ahhing cos of £40 - The Advent one (or Tommee Tippee - can't remember lol) was £13 in mothercare. I wasn't going to bother but for that price I figured why not lol.

I got the Newborn Avent kit for £11 and the Avent Microwave Steraliser for £12. Worth popping in there ladies as lots of that area of stuff is half price. Didn't get many clothes though as I found their prices quite steep. Although they do have a buy one get one half price on all vest and sleepsuit packs but I think still with that Asda may be a little cheaper.

Oooo forgot the soothers lol! They have some bargains on some special TT soothers in there. Special orthadontic ones which were a little over £2 and should have been closer to £5 each. I got one in 0-3 and one in 6-9. Naughty mommy I know but if bubs not interested it's not costing much to chuck out!

Afternoon ladies, and thanks Sammy and Hitchins for your due date wishes. Had another crap night again, kept awake by back, pelvic, stomach pains etc. But been having this on and off for a few weeks. Only positive sign that things might be hotting up is, TMI alert: three bowel movements in last 12 hours - special poos???

I hope Lilian and Twoflower are doing ok, they've both been MIA for a while now. Also, assume that MV is either now or very imminently enjoying motherhood as she's noticeably by her absence.

Bargainprincess, hope this is the green light for you, I don't mind you queue-jumping as its just by a day!

Thanks for the pic Chakani - wow, I guess there's hope for me yet!

Dusty see how things go, he'll come round to it, once finances become more of a normal thing to talk about and less of a sore point, should be easier. The letter might to the trick, and if not, lack of birthday pressies or food on a plate for OH will!

Speaking of cash, how do the tax credits work - presume if you earn less than £xxxx per year you get the £10 weekly tax credit, what is the level please? Hubby is on £21,000 at the mo so was wondering if we would get it.

Apricot I saw that temp alert on Dragons Den, must be the same or similar thing, it seems like a good idea I guess but then well, people have managed for thousands of years without those... and would you even see it middle of the night without picking bubs up? Would be interested in what everyone thinks.

Overall how much is everyone squirelling away for the maternity leave time?
I'm like you Ema_o in that I have some cash aside and want to feel as much as possible that we're going to mange ok. I would love to do swimming classes etc, we'll see what we can afford.

Afternoon, went to doctors about my horrible pelvis pain and i have some exercises to try for two weeks.

My organised mum diary came today so im very excited and have been filling it all in :D

DH thinks my bump is getting bigger and more rounder so its nice to know i look pregnant now.

Lablover, its your decision whether to bf or not. Im only doing it whilst in hospital so i dont have to pack bottles. I hated every second of bfing Lily and i know i will hate it again.

Sparkle - try the entitledto website, you put in your details and it calculates what you could get. As I understand it, many people find that although they aren't eligible initially because they have two incomes, that they are once the woman is on maternity leave because her income drops right down if she's just on SMP.
