  • Yup... i'm in the my MIL hates me camp too :D

Me and hubby just compromise. I don't have to go see her and he goes whenever he wants. Suits us. But then again, he lives with me so I don't have that technicality. He's very stubborn though. He does as he pleases and if anyone told him he can't see anyone else there is no way he'd listen. I quite like that about him. Assertive :)

Oh my god , your MIL sounds worse than mine and mine is awful. If you read back threads that Ive started my MIL deliberatly booked a holiday so I couldnt go and has done loads of eveil things but that takes the biscuit. It is difficult though because loads of people told me that my OH had to stop taking his mothers side , but at the end of the days its his mother and you only ever want to see the best in your parents. BUT I do agree (and have had similar conversations with my OH) that now he has his own family to think about he should be more commited to you. I must say tho that deep down my OH knows what his mum is like so Ive given up telling him to grow a pair and since Ive been pregnant he even agrees with me on things to do with his mum. I hope things get better for you x

Dusty hun here's the calculator link http://www.moneyformums.co.uk/planning/Budgetcalculator/tabid/77/Default.aspx you are NHS are't you??? You can ask for your pay to be calculated and then split evenly over the time of your ML, I have done that so the pay I get at the end of Feb will be the same every month until the end of September for me....I did this so that I knew what I had coming in from work monthly and so that I could budget properly...still don't know exactly much it will be monthly but at least it would give you a better idea than the way they pay it in stages.......
    xxxxxxx

Thanks hun - yes i'm NHS and have asked them to average my pay out over the 39 weeks. I've got a rough idea of what I'll get but still don't know what that is after tax and NI.
If I assume the £200 includes £20 CB and £10 Tax credits based on that you won't loose more than £10 in tax and nat ins (post April 5th).
I would tell him that the baby will cost £60 a week so you want a direct debit of £30 a week going in your account that will give you £220 a week - £90 loan etc = £130 a week for baby and food -should be very do-able. The £30 a week will seem less like your fleecing him too than asking for him to build-up a lump sum in advance.

Good idea, I've hinted at that in the letter but I figured if I could get him to agree to a little nest egg now and then if things are still tough we can reassess once bubs is here. £30 wouldn't be a lot to him.

    afternoon everyone

FAIRY i remember having a slow down in movements i always found a cold can of coke used to work id rub the cold can on my tummy and then drink the coldness and the fizz usually seemed to work.

LABLOVER i tried to bf first time around but was unsuccessful it made me feel awful when i couldnt do it so on my second pregancy i decided to bottle feed from the word go and this time i'm the same. Give it a try if it dosn't work out dont beat yourself about it.

Well my midwife came yesterday to do my booking in i explained about my anxiety and she arranged for me to have a scan today at 11 o clock it was fab to see our little pudding moving around i feel much better now i'm 14 weeks so my due date has moved forward to 17th july.

    Hi everyone,

A lot to catch up on! Stupid work for keeping me so busy!

I am only going to save up a bit of money as we have just had a load of car expenses and we are also paying off sofas in May. I do think I should be able to save about £800-£1000 and am just going to spread that over months where my pay is down to the smp. OH is very sweet though and keeps saying he will get me access to his account etc but will see how we go.

What a nightmare about the MIL Pixie! Will all be better when the two of you and bubs are all together.

Picking up my pushchair tomorrow, very excited about that!

See I have the opposite problem with my MIL, she loves me! It can get a little bit overbearing sometimes though! She is planning on having a moses basket in her house for the baby which I know is a nice idea but I don't think I will want my baby staying out overnight at a young age.

Assuming the pool is the right temperature my leisure pool is £3.65 for me and free for baby. And soon my mum will be free when she turns 60 this year!

My gym is just crazy - I pay £50 a month and they want to charge £15 for me to be able to bring a guest swimming! Nuts. I can take baby on my own for free though.

Found this: http://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/development/swimming/ It seems for the early days (assuming pool is warm enough) I might as well just take baby on my own anyway to my gym. Then when they can spend more time in the water it'd be worth going to the leisure pool with mum/hubby. By which time my gym membership will be able to be cancelled if I want. I'd planned on keeping it for as long as I'm at my current place of work because it's on my business park and I can go at lunch time (when I return to work obv).
