I always used to think OH's Mum didn't like me but she is really nice to me and I get on really well with all his sisters (our baby will have a lot of Aunties). I think she is worried though that baby will see my parents a lot more than her so am going to make an effort to try and see her lots when we go down, as both our parents live near each other. It will be her third Grandchild but my Mum and Dads first.0

I think that's really nice wendz. In an ideal world I think we would all get along and have one big happy family. Christmases and functions would certainly be a lot easier!
Unfortunately you can't change who people are and how they see things through their eyes. I always liked the first line in the song Shame:
"Well there's three version of this story, mine, and yours and then the truth."
Very aptly put imo. I don't know whether i'm mellowing with this pregnancy or not but I can't stand OH's mother. But that doesn't mean I don't want her to not love her grand child. This is the first grand son of the family and I don't know if that will make a difference or not. But I know hubby will make all the right decisions at the right time and keep me informed of anything that I need to be aware of.
It's just a tricky situation all round really. And the poor cow won't be able to win when the time actually comes. If she makes an effort I won't be interested, if she's over bearing and wants to see bubs a lot i'll be annoyed and if she doesn't want to see bubs at all that will annoy me too lol. See? Can't win! That's why I leave it all up to the hubby!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

@lablover - I know what you mean. My MIL also plans things just to spite me. Like this thing tomorrow. She knew OH was coming to see me and she decides to tell him today that he has to look after the dog tomorrow. What really takes the biscuit is that he's staying home looking after the dog whilst everyone else goes to a party in London for his grandad's brother. Even his sister's going. And I know she's his mother, but she's never been very nice to OH and he can't seem to see that she's just using him to look after the dog (they didn't even bother to invite him to the party). She lets her boyfriend call him rude names and so forth and it makes me so angry that OH just puts up with it. OH also had the option of moving down here but decided he'd rather keep the job he's currently got, which is fine but we agreed on visiting each other at least every other weekend.
Oh and MIL's new evil plan is that she decided to encourage OH to start learning to drive. He works 9-6 every day and then it takes him an hour to get home and usually he's tired so the only time he can learn to drive is.... you guessed it! Weekends. I'm going to have to declare war soon.A-Z Challenge: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

You're a bloody saint putting up with all that! I honestly don't know how you do it! :mad:Beautiful Baby Boy born 28 April 20110 -

your MIL sounds awful. That is horrid about everyone else going but not him & him having to dogsit. I would love a dog but I don't want the commitment of having to get someone to look after it if I'm away :@ so it annoys me when people are taking advantage.
If OH wants to learn to drive at the weekend maybe he could book in for lessons where you are...
I am lucky with my MIL as well, she is a sweetie. She's not been well over the last couple of years though so it sometimes gets a bit hard work fitting in visiting her in hospital with getting the DIY done and having any time for ourselves, still I would hate for her not to have visitors so we just have to make it all fit!0
