Im not buying anything major untill after my 20 week scan , got that 1st week in feb. But I have bought a few sleep suits. I know that my mum has bought me the johnstons set in the hard plastic box and has bought avent bottles(both bought because they were on offer) My way of thinking is that im not going to loose the baby because I bought a sleep suit, its because there is something wrong with me or bubs. Me or my mum buying a few things is not putting my baby in danger. If somethings going to happen it will happen, but thats just me , some people might not want to jinks things and thats fine also. I think you have to do what you think is right
Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

Lablover-can you not get a phone adaptor?
So that you plug it into the phone socket and your phone and sky plug into that. Just like a normal plug adaptor?
    That's what we have.
  • I have really only started buying although we did put our pram and carseat etc on babyplan with mothercare in September during one of their events lol I have not wanted to buy anything as I am still quite nervous about the alien coming along and I don't want to chance anything IYKWIM I still have to check the mirror sometimes to remind myself this little miracle is actually growing inside me even though he is hyper lol

Lablover I just unplugged my sky from the phoneline. Didn't make a difference - you only need it plugged in if you want to use the interactive stuff, you can still watch things on demand and record without phoneline being plugged in.

I love the idea of a waterbirth - I know I've got ages but it's never too early to think about these things is it? My hospital has recently built a new maternity unit and there are 4 pools that can be used (provided you are only midwife led)

When did you all start buying things? I am still apprehensive about getting things at the moment but I've seen that the Asda baby event is coming up and I don't want to miss out on bargains!
I am very jealous at your maternity unit with 4 pools.

We didn't buy anything until after the 20 week scan. Didn't stop us from looking though.

There have been at least 2 Asda events and this will be the 3rd since my '20 weeks'. So don't panic yourself into stocking up.

At the last baby asda event I got a baby carrier for £7.50 which I was really pleased with. I nearly got the stair gates too, but they were the screw in type which at the time we didn't want. But now we've decided we don't mind the screw in one, so if they're £7.50 this time I will get one.

One to look out for is the Huggies Starter Kit - last 2 times they reduced this from £5 to £3 in the event and the voucher you get with Emmas diary for the half price huggies kit actually takes the £2.50 off. So I only paid 50p for mine.

Sainsburys had a half price baby toiletries event before Christmas (it's only 30% off at the mo). Got some good bargains (Lansinoh for £4.99).

I had my nursery set for well over a year before but it was a Hotdeals price glitch so just had to get it! Most things I waited until 12w scan but all I need now is the disposable knicker malarky and all that. It all depends on how you would cope seeing items if things didn't go according to plan. Me, it's shut in a room I'd refuse to go in. I also don't like physical shopping so tend to buy on-line and take time to research and compare. The only thing I would say is take advice from existing mums on what not to buy. You can buy so much but generally I've been told not to bother with a baby bath, nappy pail, nappy wrapper. Some say don't buy moses baskets so I've managed to borrow one of those.:D

Back doesn't feel as bad as yesterday tonight so going to head up to bedroom sofa and recluse there as it doesn't get sat on as much as the one in the kitchen. Think I need something firm. Oo-er Mrs. DH is away til Fri :( it's the longest he's been away since Rambo.

I got asked "was it planned?" today as well as congratulated. He's a later 41 year old when he became a dad and a couple of mc after so I wasn't going to give him grief for being a numpty. He did proceed to tell me the solo 5 yr old has been in trouble at school for hitting a teacher, dinner lady and other pupil. His comment of "well at 4 how can they know right from wrong?" I said "Jesus, I knew from age 2!" I'm guessing you lot subscribe to knowing exactly what I mean!:T !!!!!!!

im not really sure what I can get for internet, im not very IT savvy. I plan on going to comet at the weekend and telling them what the problem is and see what they suggest. OH will just have to cope with the cables for the time being. My local baby shop lets you pick things out and pay them whenevr you want (no interest added) and they will deliver items the week before bubs is born (or sooner if required) they also let family members see whats on your list and they can pay for the item and get a 15% discount just for buying off your list. Even if the dont buy stuff on your list if they mention your name when they purchase things and get it added to your order they also get the money off. Going there on saturday just for a wee look
