I've just made a mahooosive pan of stew in the attempt to get some veggies in me instead of carp!
    Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j
  • Thanks for the support. I fell asleep today for over 2 hours so clearly needed the rest. I'm still feeling very low but hopefully some more rest & getting the 20 week scan out the way next week will help with that. I know the hormones are not helping or the SPD.

You have to wait until you're 5cm before you can get in the water... And the feeling as the warm water rises up over the top of your bump is like nothing you've ever felt before!

It really does ease the pain and it's lovely... I did tear with DD1 but then I could have torn if she'd been born on dry land, who knows?!

I would have had a water birth with DD2 given half a chance but I was dilating ridiculously slow and by the time I was 5cm she was on constant monitoring and then shot out 45mins later anyway so they wouldn't have had time to fill the pool up for me lol... (Also, I'm a lot fatter than I was the first time around and they made a couple of little comments about getting me out of the water in an emergency... But they did start filling it up so they couldn't have been that concerned... They just pulled the plug out when they realised I was only 3cm lol)

I completely agree here! I was weighed at booking in but I won't be popping on the scales again, whether they ask or not!

I do keep thinking about jumping on the wii fit just out of curiosity, I don't think it will be as bad as the last one, this baby doesn't appear to have a sweet tooth like DD2 so there is no danger of an ice cream shortage round here this time...

Sarah, really sorry to hear that but at least they are aware and they can keep a very close eye on you :)
Did you deliver your placenta in the pool? Or did you get out and have the injection? I'm still undecided about what to do and at the moment am going to wait and see what I want to do when the time comes. In the waterbirthing video we watched at the waterbirth class the lady delivered the placenta in the pool.

Our hospital allows us in the pool at 3 - 4cm. This seems to be unusual as everywhere I have read has said 5cm. I thought the reasoning behind the 5cm was to reduce the risk of being slowed down. So I'm a little concerned about the 3-4cm.

@Sarah - sorry baby is not growing as he should :(

Sorry to hear your news Sarahangel, but at least they will be keeping a close eye on you.

I haven't been told anything about when to get in my home birth pool, I will probably wait till the MW has arrived to check me, otherwise the baby will have a wrinkly prune for a mummy! I'm really hoping it works for me, a hot bath did me wonders the other week for my back ache. Might have one tonight after I'm back from my final yoga class. Still feeling very achy, not sure how much movement my teacher will get out of me tonight.

Apart from at booking in to determine if you have a high BMI, the NHS policy is there is no benefit to constant weight monitoring, so do complain if your mw tries to get you on the scales each time.
We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.

Teenie and fanta, have you seen how far up the list we are ? We seemed to be in a wee group at the bottom for ages. April seems very close now.

Tell me about it. I remember MV getting pg vividly as I'd been wittering on about the CBFM and she got a BFP on her first try with it :)

On weight gain, due to lack of love for chocolate and getting full quite quickly at week 23 I'm only 7lb heavier and feel a yummy mummy although initially from my physique I would have thought I would get "Free Willy" as a nick-name as I would have put money on me being a big gainer/gannett!

On saying that, even tho a little weight gain....still got back problems. Going to have a word with midwife on Tuesday as I appear to have pulled something as when I look down I get a shooting paint down my back :( I'm spending half a day on a kneeler chair and half on a normal one to see if that helps. I only seem to recover over night in the horizontal position.

    Right, time for home!

Afternoon all - sorry haven't read back properly but just back from my growth scan and bubs is not growing as he should and is below the 10 centile so I've got to have doppler scans every other day starting Friday. Just can't believe I've got another baby with IUGR again after all being good til now. On the upside I'm full term on Saturday.

Labour vibes to those who need them and hugs to all ladies and bumps. I'm off for a nap now as I feel drained xx

((Hugs)), Not sure what that means for you as this is my first but I hope you have a healthy (but probably teeny) bubs. x
  • went for coffee and a chat with my preggo friend who lives locally..a 10 minute walk is a real ordeal.

Getting a bit more browny coloured cm when I wipe now, so wondering if my plug is coming away. Feeling really bloated and uncomfortable :(

Sarah - so sorry to hear your news, but as others have said they'll be keeping a close eye on you x

MV, ((hugs )) and hope little lad comes along to show face soon!!
Hopefully lillian is getting mummy cuddles.

Congratulations to tigerlee and all the other lovely lucky mummys who are having cuddles and where are some fab pics for us to coo over?!!!!????

Welcome to all the newbies that are here on the board now, seems like there has been an influx which is brill.

Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow but it is my last "trip" so hopefully I will get it over and done with painlessly.

Someone, can't remember who, mentioned about changing bags. My lovely bro gave me a skip hop one for xmas and it's lovely. Big and loads of pockets for all the essentials and has buggy clips to attach to babys wheels. Very nice quality too.

Bubs is kicking ten shades out of me tonight so off for a warm shower to try and get baby to settle down a bit. I can live in hope.

Oh, I am another member of the insomniacs club by and large with it obviously getting worse come Monday. Then I will be back to nightshift posting - thanks for the comment Nic, nice to be missed!!!!

    Later ladies......

I wish I couldn't understand my midwife sometimes. She's horrible! And looked down her nose at me for the whole booking appointment. She also asked who I lived with and I said my grandmother. Her eyebrows shot up and she made a rude comment of 'Have you even considered how your grandmother will cope with a baby in the house?' She said it in such a rude way that I had to hold in my urge to snap at her. My grandmother is actually a very active lady and is fine with the idea. The midwife also dismissed half of my questions, rushed through most of the family medical history question (as in, not giving me time to answer) and was just generally quite detached from the whole appointment.

    Rant over :rotfl:

Tell her to sugar off. She probably needs what got you in this state in the first place and is jealous:rotfl:

I don't explain why, I just tell them "I won't be getting on the scales" and smile sweetly.
