I can't make up my mind on the nappies and I really need to get my finger out and get some...have a couple of packs of disposables that I have gotten free or bought to get my nappy bag etc so am not completely bare of nappies for the alien but I want to get reuables lol...have been on kitty kins as they have a sale on atm and am still finding it hard to decide lol....how many do I need, what type do I want etc etc lol

    here's the link lol http://www.kittykins.co.uk/
Well I had planned on using disposables for the first month anyway. Mainly because I wanted a one size nappy and I hear they don't fit so well on newborns. And also been recommended by other cloth users to start off with disposables just to make those early days a bit easier.

For finding out type I found watching youtube videos useful. I'm going with 15 nappies, may top up to 20 if I find I need more. But have a tumble dryer so 15 should be OK.

  • Ive only bought a pair of booties that we used to announce the news, and a pack of bibs which are very boyish but I couldnt resist because they said My Daddy Rocks! :D:D
My family on the other hand havent stopped buying! My Nan and sister have gone crazy, Nan spent over £40 the day after we told her on clothes and things from Tesco. Now my Mum has been buying some bits (doesnt have a lot of money so I feel bad) of clothing and also things like talc etc to put away for baby. Nan is also hinting about buying the cot and anything else I mention but she is absolutely crackers! Says I cant have a second hand pram for my first baby but they are so expensive so I think she is wanting to put money towards it but I cant accept her help for everything!:rotfl:

I am looking forward to be able to buy some more things but dont think I will until after my 20 week scan which is at the end of feb.

we have the bambino mios but as I found out last time the first few weeks you really are better with disposables. I do have unused ones this time around as due to lo's size he didnt fit in the newborn ones lol.

Im gonna wash all mine tomorrow I'll count them too as we seemed to have plenty but we havent got loads maybe 10 smaller ones and 10 bigger ones (the actual cloths) and about 3/4 covers for each size
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

  • RIght I am going to chance my arm and go to bed and listen to my relaxation tape as hubby is watching Indiana Jones anyways :) I hope I can sleep tonight although the fact I had about 3 hours it's quite possible it might be later before I get over so I may well be back lol

Im not buying anything major untill after my 20 week scan , got that 1st week in feb. But I have bought a few sleep suits. I know that my mum has bought me the johnstons set in the hard plastic box and has bought avent bottles(both bought because they were on offer) My way of thinking is that im not going to loose the baby because I bought a sleep suit, its because there is something wrong with me or bubs. Me or my mum buying a few things is not putting my baby in danger. If somethings going to happen it will happen, but thats just me , some people might not want to jinks things and thats fine also. I think you have to do what you think is right

I started buying after my 12 week scan. After having had a MMC earlier in the year, I was waiting to see I actually had a baby in there before buying stuff. It was hard enough packing the clothes I had bought last time away when we moved, so didn't want to buy more stuff and have the same happen. Although of course it has nothing to do with 'jinxing' the baby or anything, more how you'd cope seeing the stuff if something went wrong (as someone else said, sorry forgot who!).
I have also got the Johnson's bed and bath time set, it's really good value for money. I bought some bigger stuff after my 20 week scan like a cot mobile and stuff, but only bought my buggy on Christmas Eve. I will buy stuff as and when I can afford it now I am past 24 weeks.

hi everyone can i join please im Gemma im 29 this is my 3rd pregnancy i'm 13 weeks i think i'm due 21st july which happens to be my wedding anniversary but my other pregnancies have been 6 and 4 weeks prem so i doubt i will last until then. I have ds 7 and a dd 3.
i havnt had my scan yet but midwife is coming to do my booking in tomorrow and bringing my scan appt with her. i suffer alot with anxiety since my dd was born so i'm really worried about my scan.
please can somebody add me to list i really have no idea how to do it.
  • sorry to say but I'm feeling sorry for myself still. My mate, OH and DD have given me their cold the meanies! So I am tired, full of cold, back achey, SPD and a downright miserable moo.

Regarding reusables we failed due to lack of tumble dryer, but we had 15 one size nappies that fit DD from day one but then she was a 10lber. In the summer we were doing well but as soon as it got cold OH decided he preferred the disposables as it we found our radiators werent drying nappies quick enough lol. I will say that I liked these liners for catching solids. It was so much easier to just yoink it out and flush it.

As Giz said, no need to panic buy at supermarket's baby events they seem to hold them every two or three months or so.

My yoga teacher was ranting tonight about how wrong the practices are at the hospital in OBEM.

Off to bed now, feeling really tired, hope that translates into a decent night's sleep. If not, I might log on for a 4am chat.
We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.
