Congratulations Ejecoms, thats great news....:j As Teenie says, does he have a name yet???? Hope you're feeling well in yourself.....

Nothing from Tiger yet? Could be another birth announcement coming soon.....

KittyKate - Glad you asked that as its something that i've been thinking about, its DS's new hobby and we go every week, so was wondering how long it could be before bubs went.....

Ice - Good news on the viable, its a massive relief to get to that stage

Well, inlaws gone, so gonna have an hour tidying round... Was going to start on the nursery today, but OH says hes just chilling (hes been working for last three days) and so he promises to make a start on it tomorrow.... Off to have a look on ebay at the nursery furniture as still in two minds whether to buy something or paint DS's old wardrobe....

Just had mail about the increase in credit card APR - these companies really pick their moments - just as well that we'd already decided this year to get them paid off etc....

  • Hi all, long time since a proper post, but here goes!

Firstly congrats Ejecoms, hope you are ok after your scare and you get home tomorrow x

Didn't post much last week, was not feeling the best and mood not good. Broke down in tears in one point a stressed out over baby and then Christmas, plus my last few days at work. But all fell into place, had my last day at work last Thursday, got lots of vouchers and some lovely flowers. I'm still officially employed until 10th January then will sign on until can claim Maternity Allowance.

Christmas was busy with the day itself round my mums and very hyper niece and nephew, then up to the outlaws on Boxing Day. We're back up there tomorrow a will go into London for New Years Eve.....if I can stay awake:D.

This morning I had flu jab then went to Midwife. Told me off for not taking my scan result..I thought they would have one plus she still had my notes! All my first bloods and urine sample all fine as was todays. Then best bit, heard baby's heartbeat :j:j:j All seems so real now! She said at first that would be difficult as more of me than baby bump (this weeks little dig:cool:) but she found it straight away :j. Got to chase my 20 week scan if not received this time next week, plus booked in for 25 week with midwife plus GTT at 28 weeks.

Got some maternity tops in Next sale, still can't get any jeans! Won't get any baby bits until after 20 week scan but was soo tempted in Next! Roll on their mid season sale!

Sorry for long post, hope everyone else is ok, I'll be able to keep up more now that I'm a lady of leisure:D

For those thinking of Ebay for nursery furniture - have a look at Argos' clearance on there, I got a M&P Harbour Cotbed for an amazing £49.99, they arranged delivery about 14 days later to my MIL, rang her first to check she was in, no waiting around...cot bed is brand new, flat pack and we've saved a good £150. I can't recommend them enough, the stock is limited to the clearance in that area but there's some bargains to be had.

Also for prams/pushchairs, don't forget the VAT increase soon and get your pre orders in at pre rise prices, by shopping in the sales and getting a 10% cash discount I got my iCandy cherry, pram attachment, pushchair attachment, car seat (the model down from the Pebble as the Pebble doesn't have the head restraint that I want), and the isofix car base with a free parasol for £513. This is a LOT cheaper than John Lewis and I can pick the car seat up first for bump's arrival then pick the rest up later. To anyone who lives near the area the shop is called Nurserytime in Barrowford (hope I can name it, I'm not associated with it at all)
  • Congrats Ejecoms - what a fantastic late Xmas prezzie you have been given!! Wishing you all the best for the New Year!!!

Alfalfa - We got the Silver Cross 3D, was the first pram that I had seen when I was about 8 weeks pregnant and no other one could compare to it.lol. I managed to get the car seat free for it aswell as part of the Mothercare Sales.

Had a bit of a fall in the SHopping Centre - bubs is still moving around well though so I am hoping that everything is ok. My DH is finally starting to feel better and thinks he will be able to get back to work tomorrow or Friday.

Sorry if this is a daft question (first time clueless mummy!) but at what age can you take babies swimming, (assuming little swimmers come in, well, little sizes ;):) ) our local pool does mummy and baby swimming but I am too embarrassed to ask in case they think I want to drown my child or something, haha ;)

our 'swimming' classes for babies were called 'baby splash' but baby had to be over 6 months old.

i do know tho that different pools have different age limits so best to ring em and check.

I found the classes the cheapest way to take him swimming as otherwise you are paying adult swimming prices for a 10 minute time in the water, they can't really take half hour or more till around 6 month mark.

check this link out formore info.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

I'm looking at that pushchair - its one of the few that the handles extend on, just hope there is a good offer on it when we get round to buying it.

Yes that's the one! Got that because of the differences in me and DH height.lol. The pram can be used from birth and then has a toddler mode and there is also the car seat which you have to buy separately. Mothercare were selling it for £299 for the pram plus alot of accessories and the car seat is £115, but the sale they have now added the car seat in for free if you buy the full set. There is also a similar one which is slightly cheaper on kiddi care and its a baby weavers make - that was the one I was going to get if Mothercare hadnt had that special offer on. Plus you can get money off with vouchers if you have signed up for their baby club.

  • I'm taller than my OH at 5ft 11! Just wish I was 20 weeks now and I'd probably buy it. I've signed up to the club and got some vouchers plus had a 10% off to use by 9th Jan....not 20 weeks til 24th Jan!

Ejecoms, congratulations. Hope we can see a pic when you're home and up to it.

Hope everything is ok and going well for Tiger.

My carrycot/car seat arrived today, got it from ebay. Its brand new and its gorgeous and i got it for 1/3rd of the price it should be.

Hope all you other ladies are well. Bubs is v. active pretty much all the time, starting to worry that this is a sign of things to come. 30+3 today, so only 1/4 of the way to go. Got really mixed emotions as to whether i'm ready to have the baby or whether i want him to stay in my tummy forever (although looking forward to a bottle or 2 of wine after he's here, may have a small glass of something tomorrow tho).
Found myself holding back the tears at the end of Benidorm the other day, not a thing for one born every miute at xmas tho, no idea whats going on with my hormones.

Sharkey, hope you're ok after your fall, make sure you take it easy.

and finally a quick question, i had my GTT on the 20th, when would you have expected to hear something, if they had found anything?
    TIA
    xx
