I brought our crib off Ebay second hand its a Mothercare one and cost us just £30 instead of £125. We need to get a new mattress for it but thats fine as I don't think it will be that expensive.

When it comes to getting a cot or cotbed (not decided which to go for yet) we will either get one from IKEA or get a second hand one and get a new mattress for it. As much as I fell in love with some of the furniture ranges in Mamas and Papas they are SO overpriced in my opinion.

Glad to hear the growth scan went well Sarah :)

Hope your last day at work went well Giz so now you are a lady of leisure - well for the next few weeks anyway :p 5 weeks to go for me and I can't wait!

Just so you know when we ordered our pram and M & P the lady told us the guarantee started from my EDD and made a note of it there and then on the order paperwork so I have always worked under that assumption :)

Kittykate I'm 28w 5d now and over the last few days bubs has started becoming VEY active especially at night, He/she woke me up moving around about 6 times last night and sometimes can be wriggling for at least half an hour to an hour at a time. Totally the opposite to how it was a couple of weeks ago when it seemed to be very quiet and I started getting a little worried. I think I definitely have a night owl in there which I'm hoping doesn't cause too many problems :o

Sammy didn't get much in the sales, I got fed up after about an hour and a half as I started getting those pains in my bump when I walk and it was frustrating me that all the things I really liked there was no point buying (pretty clothes that wouldn't fit and killer heels that I can't wear atm). Came home with some make up from Superdrug, some hair dye and a Babyliss Root Boost none of which were in the sale anyway :rotfl:

I've got my flu jab today. After thinking about it and discussing with OH (who was very unkeen for me to have it) we decided it was probably for the best. Rang up the doctors yesterday and as soon as I said I was pregnant she said "can you come in tomorrow" :o wasn't expecting it to be so soon! Am hoping it doesn't make me feel porly at all as we are off out with friends for a meal tomorrow.

Morning Everyone. Hope you are all ok. Well my pram has arrived and is now safely at my dads house, I am not allowed it in my house as apparently its bad luck. Dont really believe in all that stuff but heyho I have no option, my dad and his GF are guarding it. Quite impressed by how quickly it has got here only bought it on Boxing Day.

I can't wait to get my pram but like you I've been told it's bad luck to have it in the house so my parents are picking it up next Saturday and leaving it at their house to 'air' out. We ordered ours a few months ago, we went for the Silvercross Sleepover Deluxe with matching car seat. It's quite a traditional shape but I love it, I really don't like all these 'modern' ones. Oh my god I've just realised I sound like my mother...

Anyway, nursery is nearly finished, we went for bright green (yikes) walls with M&P Hodge Podge border and bedding. Now just waiting to hear when our furniture will be delivered and then we'll hopefully be all ready for his/her arrival! I thi nk i'mgetting more scared everyday about how much my life will change and after watching One Born at Christmas I'm now petrified about giving birth!f

Hello all. Wanted to let you know that my son was born this morning at 4.51. 24 hr labour which all went very well with just entonox for pain relief. He weighs 8lb 8 and is sleeping next to me now. Unfortunately after the natural delivery, I retained the placenta and had to be transferred to the delivery suite for a manual evacuation of placenta under spinal in theatre and had a small haemorrhage. All good now and hoping to go home tomorrow.

Sorry if this is a daft question (first time clueless mummy!) but at what age can you take babies swimming, (assuming little swimmers come in, well, little sizes ;):) ) our local pool does mummy and baby swimming but I am too embarrassed to ask in case they think I want to drown my child or something, haha ;)

Kitty, you can take them from birth but alot of pools wont let you unless they have had their jabs.

Its best to speak to them so they can tell you their rules :)
I think the huggies swimmers start at 7lbs, they are size xs :)

    Congrats Ejecoms!

Thankyou! I had no idea....I thought you had to wait until they were 12 months plus. I'd like to get mine in the water ASAP because I had a fear of swimming as a child and don't want my baby to be the same. Do they still do swimming lessons at school? For some obscure reason at our school you could choose between learning to swim or the piano... many of my friends have a grade 1 in piano long forgotten and a fear of drowning ;)
  • I just did a huge post and lost it all! Grrr hate when that happens!!

    Big congratulations Ejecoms!!

    Good luck Tigerlee!

I'm getting fed up of watching OH playing F1 on the xbox now and waiting for the camcorder which was supposed to come before 1pm so I can get some shopping, not holding out much hope of it coming in the next 10 minutes!

Also, are any of you going to try or have tried Arnica tablets for brusing after the birth? I'm willing to try anything because I was a bit of a mess when I had DD and I'm willing to try anything to help get over the birth a bit quicker.
