Sorry, I meant without doc advice. My doc told me to stop omeprazole before getting preggers. I was just concerned about preggers people taking them non prescribed from family and friends. There are other options to try first before going in for omeprazole or other ppi's for milder heartburn/reflux such as sleeping more upright, not eating late, eating lighter meals little and often and gaviscon.
Tried all of that, nothing else works for me. My doc will prescribe them but i wont get an appointment for ages so my mum took pity and gave me hers until then.

Went out yesterday for a while but I got those really bad stitch like pains across my tummy again  It's so annoying as I really can't walk far with them. Does anyone else get them?

Yes I have been getting these for about the past 10 weeks or so. Some days they are ok but I find if I am walking for too long they seem to flare up and they can be really painful. I haven't found anything that eases them yet :o

about a week ago I started with this horrible pain in my mid back (about where my ribs are) and sometimes I can feel it in my front as well (sounds really bizarre) so I mentioned it to mw at my apppointment last week, however she wasn't very sympathetic, just said its a part of being pregnant i'm afraid (thank the lord it wasn't my regular midwife, or I would have been well miffed!) anyways i've googled it and its pretty common - has anyone on here experienced it??

I've also been having this mostly on my right hand side under my rib at the front but sometimes I get it at the back as well. It is really uncomfortable but apparently quite common (according to Doctor Google). It can be either th uterus pushing on internal organs against the ribs as it is growing, the rib cartiledge stretching to allow a bit more space inside for everything or it can be that bubs has a hand, foot or bottom wedged under there.

I have found that standing up and stretching my right arm above my head and gently leaning over to the left to stretch everything out can help ease it sometimes. I suppose it just gets things moving slightly in there which relieves any pressure.

Last night was laying in bed and the baby decided to have a monster wriggling session :) ended up laying there just resting my hand on the side of my tummy for about an hour and a half while he/she had a party in there - I love that feeling so much.

Am going to brave the crowds today and pop into town - eek! Hoping it won't be too busy!

ummm how did I get to 29th on the list...... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I am so not amused at that. anyway I have MW and consultant later.. i'm 33 weeks now so glad to get this far but pushing for another 2 weeks at least. I think 35 weeks plus having steroids baby will be fine. 33 weeks i'm still a bit worried about SCBU.

Appropriate vibes to all those who need them...

Ok, that's fine, but its prescribed by GP or gastroenterologist. Previous poster cant remember who, was taking a family members omeprazole without GP advice, that's what I was concerned about.
My GP advised me to stop due to fact that PPI's lower bodys ability to absorb calcium which is important during pregnancy. But, I had mild reflux and can manage without them. Others, like yourselves obviously have more severe symptoms if you are under endo or gi docs and do need them during pregnancy.

My apologies, thought you'd just nicked them from your mum without docs advice. Sorry x

I am 24 weeks today yay!

SJP - I get a pain in back and around to front sometimes is horrible. I went to doctor as wouldn't go away once and he seemed to think was normal.
  • Hiya Hope everyones well and anm and ejecoms are getting some twinges.

SJP - I've had that sort of under rib pain but on my left, i find that one morning i'll wake with it and have it all day then not have it for ages again. I just assumed it was the way i was sleeping.

Well it's due date today and i didn't sleep at all last night (had a migraine as i went to bed so that knocks me out of sinc). Had midwives today and because of the holidays she gave me a sweep today. It wasn't as bad as i thought, just a bit uncomfortable but not painful, and i'm 2 cm dilated and soft squashy cervix!? so since then well actually before as well, i've been having some period type pain. Nothing major or remotely regular just a bit crampy.

End date is also in sight as midwife also booked me for another sweep next wed and induction on the 10th Jan.

:j way to go tiger, that is a really good start. In just under 2 weeks at the very most you should have your little baby! :D or

  • oooh Tiger..exciting!!! Keep us posted won't you!!

Sammy I am still a crazy mix of excited and scared. Full of aches and pains now, which I wont miss, but not sure I'm quite ready yet (will I ever be??):rotfl:

My first trimester complete knackeredness is back with a vengance, and people keep wanting to meet up/come over etc, which I am finding exhausting.

My sister gave me an enormous bag of baby stuff over Xmas, which I need to sort through and wash. Done a big load of stuff today already, we have FAR too much now..I'm betting that half of it will never get worn!

Been very productive today..wrote a list and nearly done everything on it:

Swapped to cheaper tarrif for gas and electricity
Washed a load of baby clothes
    Did food shop
    Washed hair
    Ordered breast pump from Amazon

So just some pictures for OH to hang left now, and the plan for me is to slob on the sofa for the rest of the day...bliss! :D
