I just told my dentist I am pregnant. She didn't ask for the card and I have never been give one either. I'm in Wales though if that makes a difference?

I'm in Wales too and didn't need an exemption card.I thought you meant a tax credit exemption certificate, sorry. xx

I had my 15 week midwife appointment today & got to hear the heart beat for the first time, wonderful :)

:j it's lovely hearing it for the first time isn't it? We heard ours at our 9 week private early scan and I instantly burst into tears. I still love hearing it and even recorded it on my phone at my midwife appointment so I can hear it whenever I want :)

Thanks. It's my 24 week appointment on the 29/12 so I'll make sure I ask for both then.

You may just about scrape in as we were told it is 25 weeks by 01/01/11. Make sure you get it at your appointment and that you post it straight away.
Ah, maybe that's what they meant when they said 3rd Dec to us too? Maybe we'll get the call in the next couple of days.
We're getting the Maxi Cosi Pebble with Family Fix base, then moving onto the Pearl. Why are you getting the Cabrio? I haven't really looked at that one, is it better than the Pebble? - I hate all the Pebble colours so am hoping they bring out new ones soon. Otherwise we'll settle for the Ruby Red one.

I have a 20% off car seat voucher that came with my Boots Parenting Club pack which expires at the end of Jan so I am using that for the car seat and base, will get it ordered by the end of Jan but in the hope new colours are out by then. Get all those lovely advantage card points too :D

I would think that was probably what they meant when they said the 3rd as we were told that was when stock was expected into their main distribution centre and then each store would be sent their ordered ones which would take anything up to two weeks. I suppose with the snow problems as well that could delay it a little.

We decided on the Cabrio as the M & P Aton seat doesn't have great reviews and the reviews I read on the Primo Viaggio (which is the other one they recommended at M & P) said that it is really heavy and difficult to lift and a lot of people said they sold theirs and got a Maxi Cosi instead.

The reason we are getting the Cabrio is because it was a little cheaper and so is the base that goes with it. Even though you can use the Family Fix base for longer with the next seat up once bubs gets a bit older the reviews for the follow on seats aren't that great and apparently there are better seats which can be brought. As we are planning on trying for another baby about a year or so after this one because of my age we decided we could always use the Cabrio for the new baby and get a different seat for the older one :)

I think bearing in mind the price you have found on boot.com for the Pebble and the Family fix then it would be worth ordering it now before the VAT increase. You have ordered the pram so no worries about that as you aren't going to change your mind now you've paid for that. I might check that site out to see how much the Cabrio is on there :)

Lovely scan picture Teenie :) and Salki am glad your scan went well sorry you didn't get any pictures :(

  • I probably would have if I'd been able to :o Wasn't possible though, so I took to having what we affectionately call "Nana naps" - an hour or two in the afternoon.

About the HiP Grant... Have been reading different threads on different places, seems the cut off for due date is 21st April - and I know I've read that on this thread before - in my lurking days :D I'm gonna either try and ring the helpline number

(8.00 am to 8.00 pm, Monday to Friday
8.00 am to 4.00 pm Saturday
Closed Sundays, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day
    0845 366 7885)

... But knowing how much I hate talking to people on the phone, I may email them instead - http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/hipg/email.htm Would be easier to phone really, just depends how brave I'm feeling tomorrow :o
    [/QUOTE]

I emailed them months ago and was told you need to be in your 25th week (so 24+1) on the 1st, and I'm sure they said cut off was 21st April.

  • Aww, found it! Lovely pic Teenie, very clear. My baby was facing towards us so didn't get a very good pic, but sonographer said he was being very well behaved. He was having a rest during the scan :rotfl:

Oooo if I am 24 weeks on 30/12 then I'll be in my 25th week on 01/01 too :j

ETA - Nice pics too Teenie. Mine were a disaster on my 20 week scan, looked like random blobs in the dark!
My 20 weeks scan picture was awful too, and the sonographer was a real ignorant cow. She didn't point anything out and didn't talk to us apart from to ask me to get on the bed and if we wanted to know the sex...

Those that are having 24week appointments, I'd get the midwife to post date the HiP forms a week. Otherwise you might get it sent back to you...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Thanks for the replies about sleeping. What I'd really like to know is if anybody else slept 4-8 hours more than usual in the first trimester?

There were a few weeks when I would wake at nine-ish, maybe have an hour or so kip late morning and then another 2+ hour afternoon sleep as well as a good 8-9 hours at night.
We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.
  • Can someone quickly explain how to upload a pic? I've had my baby :)

My waters broke last Thursday morning at 11.30am, started having contractions approx 3pm and was up and down to the hospital and finally at 9pm on thurs evening i was 5cm and finally admitted to the labour ward.

3.03am on Friday morning i give birth to Olivia Anne weighing a lovely 7lb 1. Discharged that afternooon at 3.00pm!! I had gas and air and then 45 mins before she was born i had pethidine, so when she was born she was in an incubator for an hour or so cause she was really sleepy from the pethidine.

Pethidine (I thought) done NOTHING for the pain but it made me drowsy and i was dozing between the contractions but waking up everytime i had one. At approx 2.30 i was 9.5cms and the mw decided i needed to start pushing, 28mins later and she was here.

It was hard work but completley worth it as she is the most beautiful girl in the entire world. had a few sleepless night but had 7hrs last night. it really is a 24hr job! Plus she wouldnt latch on as i apparantly have 'flat nipples' so ive been expressing and it is hardwork but shes also on forumla.

To upload a pic , you need to press the icon that looks a bit like a mountain in the "post reply " box ( to make it easier its the icon three to the right of the globe icon) When you hover over it will say "insert image " put the url of the image from photobucket etc in there and the pic will come up . I hope that makes sense. And Congrats :)
