  • Morning ladies :)

Digital - congrats on your scan going well. Fantastic news re Team Blue!

I'm sat here waiting for the news of my screening test. The midwife at the hospital said she would call me as soon as the results are in due to their faux pas last week. I'm quite nervous about these results but trying not to worry. There isn't really much I can do about it either way :(

FF - I think someone posted a honey a lemon cough syrup from boots that is supposed to be really good a while back. Don't fancy looking for the link though! You can take it when preggers tho!

Starting to feel really really tired again now. Think the baby is on a growth spurt again. Well, I hope it is! The amount of food I am now consuming (from having no appetite to having a massive appetite is odd!) could be worrying if it continues! :D

Scan on Monday so i'm just trying to stay sane for that! Work is grinding me down at the moment. I think it's cos it is looking likely that i'll only be getting the 3 days off this year. 24th, 25th and 26th. Better make the most of them!

Oh and MV - sorry you're feeling like cack! I just wanted to say... hold your head up hun. After losing the baby and then getting pregnant with this one you're an inspiration to Debs and Pawpurrs and any of the other ladies that have been through the same. Be strong, it'll all be worth it when you have your bambino in your arms ;)

Bit of a mega post coming up.

If you feel fed up with being pregnant its not a bad thing. I put it down to the fact that something out of the ordinary is happening to your body which you are having to adjust to immeadiatly. Also you are awaiting a life changing moment! Which is scary/enjoyable/amazing but unknown until it arrives. So although alot of emotions will be put down to hormones but its bigger than changing jobs and moving house which are things we tend to get emotional over anyway.

Basically no matter how much of a weirdo/freak or snivelling mass you feel...... you are perfectly normal and your body is busy doing something amazing - you are creating life you godlike person you! So whilst you may not be enjoying the bump, sudden increased appetite, vomiting, dia woo woo, sleepless nights, difficulty walking etc Normal service will be returned shortly and at least we can all count it down to +/- 2 weeks of a specific date.

A bit rambly but felt we could do with a bit of positivity whilst I am in a good mood :D

Now remember ladies.....work those pelvic floor muscles!

    Love and hugs

Thank you for posting that, it's lovely to read such positive thoughts!

I'm currently getting paranoid about the getting to hospital part - just had a letter through that the main A road out of our town is going to be closed for three weekends during Jan, Feb and March - weekends to be annouced. What are the chances?!

Anyway, you're right, it's amazing what we're doing and just thinking about having our son with us this time next year for Christmas is such a wonderful thought :)

    Thank you again xxxxx

Blimey, lots of new posts while I was trying to reply :(

Hugs Sarah, sorry to hear you were poorly, hope your ear pops soon and you feel better again xx

Lilian, that's a brilliant plan - to my uneducated eyes anyway, I had no idea you could specify things, I know they suggest you do a birthing plan but I was ignorant when I had Moo - not to mention I had no control whatsoever with her - but I had no idea what to say or how to say it so I'll definitely be taking inspiration from your plan so thank you :D

Tickle, that's a brilliant post, and should be included in every birth pack, every information pack, everywhere that pregnant ladies might look!! Ever thought of running pregnancy classes? :D

Hope they get to you soon Charlie, nothing worse than sitting there stressing - I'm sure everything's ok :) Oh and that cough syrup from Boots was vile - for me anyway! I ended up with the blackberry one cos there was nothing else that said you can take during pregnancy - maybe they just didn't have the honey and lemon in my Boots. Sending you hugs too, sorry to hear work are being @sses - make the most of your time off over Christmas xxx

ETA, I've got my scan on Monday too, yaay! Scan buddies

I can't really add much to what GFH said, but she is so right.

It's only natural to be scared, and of course the hard bits will be hard, but they only last a short time. Of course birth hurts, but you can do it. Your body is designed to cope, and as much as we carp about the NHS, we have all that medical backup just in case.

Also, as much as midwives can sometimes be rubbish when they're doing the routine antenatal stuff, remember that what they trained all those years to do, and the reason they do their job, isn't to check blood pressure all day, it's to get your baby safely into this world. When it counts, they really do know what they are doing, and they will look after you.

Being a mummy is scary, but it is truly wonderful, and there is no bond in the world like the one you will have with your little boy.

Fanta - halls throat soothers, I was told by our pharmacist that they are ok, but sometimes this info seems to differ between pharmacies lol.

Pain has gone now but I am completely deaf in my right ear - any ideas on how to make it pop? I've tried blowing but its just not happening!!

Steam! I get alot of ear infections and that horrible one sided or blocked feeling is gunk and air bubbles trapped behind the ear drum and the only thing I have found that works is steam, so steamy baths/showers etc.

Re DD would a sticker chart help? I know it sounds really petty but I used to childmind a 7 year old who was a bit of a madam and I brought in a sticker chart for good behaviour and if she filled a week I would let her choose what we would do on the saturday from a list of options, so Picnic in the park, swimming, plate painting. If she hasnt been good we would clean her bedroom and play room and if she did this well we would bake a cake. And eat most of it! lol

This pregnancy has flown by, can't wait now! Oh names, currently a hot topic in Chez hitchins, I like Daniel and George....OH likes Sidney (!) and Jacob (which is a bit too Twilighty). Getting a bit peeved with the inlaws shoving their two penneth in ... "mum doesn't like that name.....sister likes this" I'm carrying him, I'm giving birth....so keep your flipping nebs out! So, no, no names as yet :D

Names with DD we decided that I chose her 1st name and OH chose her middle name. This time OH is choosing 1st name and I am choosing middle name, but we had the power to veto any rediculous names or ones that we felt may result in bullying.

Cutterby - I so want to write a down to earth guide to pregnancy but think I may end up scaring people lol as I have a tendency to be a bit blunt from time to time :D

    Morning ladies and bumps.

Still feeling awful with this virus.

I sneezed last night and I dont know why but I kind of placed of my hand on my stomach and then when I sneezed I got a shooting pain where my hand was! I won't be doing that again in a hurry!

Lillian, your birth plan looks very clear to me they can be in no doubt as to what you want. When do you have to write your birth plan. My MW hasn't mentioned when I have to do mine but then she is on another planet half the time!

Hope everyone is ok, FF hope your sore throat and cough gets better soon.

Labour vibes to those in need.

Thank you, that's good to hear. I looked here and it said that at my 34 week appointment I could discuss it with my MW - don't know whether she'll want to but I'll be discussing it anyway!

well worth it though - every time they see you and smile, tell you they love you, snuggle into you, every picture they draw you, every sleepless night, every ounce of worry, every parents evening when you come out knowing your child is the best behaved, cleverest, kindest child in the class - all of it. Yes there are 'moments' but you get that with everything in life, new job, moving house, relationships - even friendships! Chin up honey, we're always here for you xxxxx

I am beyond emotional today, the slightest thing is sending me into tears and Cutterby I am a blubbing mess after reading this. :o
