Fanta - gargle warm salt water for your sore throat.
Re ready meals...now M&S ready meals are definitely more my thing but we couldn't afford that - I will start hinting now to my parents and in-laws!
My problem with batch cooking is there's not much I eat that can be batch cooked.Except the pasta sauce. I hate all mince meat style foods - so shepards/cottage pie is out. My dad makes portions of steak pie for me where I just add a bit of puff pastry on top. But I honestly couldn't think of any meals to make where they could go straight in the microwave. What are you guys planning on?
Sharkey - sorry about the pain. I've not found my bump to be 'rock hard' for a day, only for like half hour if that when I think baby is sticking his bum out. Mostly it's soft. But I have days (yesterday one of them) where I struggle to breathe all day. I guess it's the baby's position. I think he's moved down again today as I feel better.
I've also reached another period where he's quietened down a bit like around the 28 week mark. Still passes the 10 kick count, but just not generally as active.
Got my second antenatal class today - a double class due to Xmas. So it's Labour and Delivery todayGet a half day at work :j

Giz how about vegetarian versions of the mince-based foods? So veg lasagne/bolognaise/chilli etc?
Or you can use tuna to make nice sauces?
Macaroni cheese is a favourite of mine too, and that can be frozenMetranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -

Our dinners really do consist of a piece of meat, potatoes and veg. Some people might find it boring, but it's what we like.
I do like macaroni cheese, but OH doesn't!!
Ooh I know, I will make some leek and potato soup to freeze.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Morning ladies & bumps xx
MV - can't beleive how close you are to the end now. I too used to [STRIKE]nosey[/STRIKE] read the TTC thread and I am so pleased and excited for you. :A I was told on Sunday that this little fella will be between 7-8lb, he's currently 2lb 10oz. DD was only 5 12lb and that suited me fine
Another member of the poo pants nights sleep club! Suffering with "restless legs" could chop them off, drives me potty!:heart2:Baby boy due 4th March 2011:heart2:0 -
Thanks hitchins
It certainly feels like it's been a rollercoaster of a year!
It's coming up to a year when I found out I was preg last time, so this will be my 2nd alcohol-free Xmas in a row!
Your little fella will be here in no time at all too! It's crazy how the time flies by!
Have you got any names yet? I think we know what we are going to call him, but will make the final decision once we have seen him
Giz - soups are a good idea. They can all be frozen. What about curries? Do you like those? I'm a curry-nut, but I know not everyone is a fan!Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Morning ladies,
Sorry haven't been around but been poorly since Friday night, ended up at the out of hours GP on Saturday with earache after a sleepless night, then I started vomiting whilst waiting to be seen! I was prescribed antibiotics and paracetamol for the pain. Pain has gone now but I am completely deaf in my right ear - any ideas on how to make it pop? I've tried blowing but its just not happening!!
DD also came down with a vomiting bug on Friday night which lasted most of the weekend so she was at home yesterday but I wish I sent her to school. She seems to be in spoilt brat mode at the moment. At 8 years old she still expects me to dress her at times and needs constant supervision to do the most simple tasks i.e. brush teeth etc, it's draining at the best of times but now I'm almost 33 weeks I feel exhausted with looking after a 8 year old baby and I'm getting worried of how it's going to be when this baby comes. OH doesn't seem to get it and thinks she will grow up when he arrives but I'm not so sure and I think she will take advantage of the situation.
She is also extremely rude and mouthy to me in particular, I have had "chats" with her most weeks to reassure her but it doesn't seem to be getting any better.
Sorry to moan, needed to get it off my chest.
I'll have a look back now at the rest of the thread and update later on, I have my Christmas meal at work which I could do without as I feel really tired as bubs was on the move most of the night and I could be doing with going back to bed!!

10 working days until maternity leave starts :j
Cause I'm now finishing earlier I've got 11 including today - hooray!sharkeybabe wrote: »Hello - Rant Alert!!!!!!
I am in soooo much pain. My bump is killing me. It has been rock solid all day, its a struggle to breath sometimes and I'm feeling really rubbish.
Does anyone know what this could be or is this all part and parcel of being pregnant. I am 31 weeks tomorrow.
Yep - same here. It's really uncomfortable isn't it? I've had it for a couple of weeks and I'm 34 weeks on Friday.
Also struggling to get to sleep because of the little dancer inside me, I'm loving feeling him moving around though so don't mind toooo much. I think he's the next Bruce Forsyth
OK ladies - I wrote my birth plan last night. Am I missing anything? I want to keep it to one side of A4 and bullet points so I've tried to only include things I'm really bothered about.
Below I have listed some requests, anything in red is something I am unlikely to change my mind about, everything else is my preference but I am willing to discuss options.
Ultimately, the safe delivery of our baby, baby’s health and my safety are the most important things to us and we appreciate your help in achieving this.
- I would like a vaginal birth, however if assistance is looking necessary then I would prefer to go straight to a caesarean before it becomes an emergency. I do not want forceps or ventouse.
- I do not want medical students present but am happy to have one student midwife attend the birth.
- I would like to push when it feels right, unless I have had an epidural in which case I appreciate that a midwife will need to tell me when to do this.
- I do not want my baby’s heartbeat continually monitored unless there is a medical reason to do this.
- Labour pain relief and equipment
- I would like to labour in a pool if there is one available
- Birth ball
- Music via iPod
- Use breathing techniques (hypnobirthing and yogic)
- Massage from my husband
- TENS machine if not in the pool
- Gas and air
- An epidural as a last resort – if I ask for this, please provide before it is too late.
- I do not want pethidine or diamorphine.
- I would like to be able to move around as much as possible during labour, using a pool and birth ball but also have the option to lie down on my side. I do not want to lie on my back at any point unless there is a medical reason for this.
- I do not want my waters artificially broken unless it is an emergency.
- I do not want to have an episiotomy.
- I would like my baby to be delivered straight into my arms and for my husband to tell me the sex of the baby.
- Please dim the lights after the birth and allow quiet time to facilitate family bonding.
- I want to try to breastfeed as soon as baby is ready and would appreciate help with this if I am finding it difficult.
- I would like my baby to have the vitamin K injection.
- I would like to deliver the placenta naturally, however if there is heavy blood loss or any other complications then I would like to have an injection to help it along. I would like to avoid syntometrine and would prefer oxytocin if available.
- Please do not cut or clamp the umbilical cord until the cord has stopped pulsating unless there are complications. My husband would prefer not to cut the cord.
Any suggestions?

Bit of a mega post coming up.
If you feel fed up with being pregnant its not a bad thing. I put it down to the fact that something out of the ordinary is happening to your body which you are having to adjust to immeadiatly. Also you are awaiting a life changing moment! Which is scary/enjoyable/amazing but unknown until it arrives. So although alot of emotions will be put down to hormones but its bigger than changing jobs and moving house which are things we tend to get emotional over anyway.
Basically no matter how much of a weirdo/freak or snivelling mass you feel...... you are perfectly normal and your body is busy doing something amazing - you are creating life you godlike person you! So whilst you may not be enjoying the bump, sudden increased appetite, vomiting, dia woo woo, sleepless nights, difficulty walking etc Normal service will be returned shortly and at least we can all count it down to +/- 2 weeks of a specific date.
A bit rambly but felt we could do with a bit of positivity whilst I am in a good mood
Now remember ladies.....work those pelvic floor muscles!
Love and hugs

Grrrrr this is the third time I've tried to post this - is anyone else having problems?
Hope you feel better soon fanta - I'm a very naughty Mummy-to-be and had to resort to Strepsils when I had a really bad throat earlier in my pregnancy - I know you're not supposed to BUT the lady I spoke to at the chemist put my mind at ease when she said years ago there was none of this 'can't take this, can't have that' - women had to get on with things and take whatever helped them carry on. I only had the odd one which seemed to help more than when I pop them like sweets when I'm not pregnant
Aww MV, hugs!! It's human nature to doubt things, even when it's something you've wanted for so long - it's completely normal!! I massively under-estimated how much it would change things for me personally (I was a single mum with no support network of friends or family), yet I can't seem to remember life without my little Moo now - not that it can have been any kind of life without herI keep forgetting I'm actually going to have another baby, I'm quite enjoying 'being pregnant' - just doesn't seem to have registered that in 4 months there'll be another person here and we'll all have to adapt! It's well worth it though - every time they see you and smile, tell you they love you, snuggle into you, every picture they draw you, every sleepless night, every ounce of worry, every parents evening when you come out knowing your child is the best behaved, cleverest, kindest child in the class - all of it. Yes there are 'moments' but you get that with everything in life, new job, moving house, relationships - even friendships! Chin up honey, we're always here for you xxxxx
