Very quick visit here today, as I need to get myself together and brave the outside world today - hugs to all those holed up with colds and flu - we really don't need it on top of being pregnant.

I've got my last physio appointment today, and they are going to measure my pain-free gap for labour  - wow does that bring into focus how close I am now. Then waddling to the shops for a few Xmas bits for OH before I head back to the hospital again in the evening for ante-natal classes.
We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.

Afternoon all

How is everyone getting on today?
I am good - apart from waking up with a sore throat - I am due at the hospital tomorrow for scan number 5 - I think this will be the last one now til LO is here...only 8.5 weeks to go! LOL. Hubby cant make it tomorrow so my mum is coming with me - will be the first scan she has ever seen so I am excited for her! Even if she isnt lol.
Then got another 3 appointments after! Oh the joys - at least they are all in the one day!
Anyways - cloth nappies - anyone planning on using them?

• Talking of birth plan, this is mine - if it can inspire anyone writtng theirs:
Birth companion
ABC, my partner

Ideal scenario for labour and delivery

Birthing pool and Gas & Air
Quiet environment
As few manipulations, examinations and medical interventions as possible

Positions for labour and birth
Mobile and free to change position whenever I feel the need.

Kneeling, standing, squatting or lying on a bed, etc. whichever position feels right at the time.

Pain relief
Gas and Air.

Use of Morphine and Remifentanil if felt needed and asked for.
Epidural considered if necessary but not as first choice.

Monitoring your baby's heart rate
Intermittent heart beat monitoring with hand held device

Constant monitoring only if medically necessary.

Assisted delivery
NO FORCEPS

Third stage (delivery of the placenta)
Injection

Vitamin K

Orally only – NO INJECTION

Feeding the baby
Breastfeeding

I will try and keep an open mind on the day. First baby so no idea what to expect. It's a bit of a checklist for my partner, a reminder of what we discussed.
35 weeks now and I feel so calm about the birth. Strange as I was very anxious up to a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I'm missing something?:rotfl:
Wishing a good day to you all free of pains and aches.

This is my birth plan:
Birth Plan

If you think I state things which should not need to be explicitly stated, I agree. However, based on my previous birth I believe it is necessary.

No debate about my birth plan. Notes detailing my reasoning are available if required.

I am planning to have a homebirth.

My husband, daughter and doula will be present within the house and at times within the same room as me.

Any other people should only enter the room where I am labouring with my express consent.

I will eat and drink as desired.

Although I have no particular plans to use any drugs during labour and birth, please note that despite being thin, I am not below average weight as I am much taller than average.

No vaginal exams.

No electronic monitoring.

No amniotomy.

No episiotomy.

Birthing position to be chosen by me - please do not force me to give birth on my back.

I will push when I choose - nobody should be telling me when to push or shouting at me to push.

Low lights at the time of birth unless bright lighting is clinically indicated.

Low voices - especially no shouting.

Baby to be caught by me. (If I am in an unsuitable position to do so, baby may be caught by my husband or midwife and given to me ASAP - baby does not need to be weighed first.)

I will breastfeed.

I want to have a physiological third stage:
• no syncometrine
• no cord clamping or cutting
• no controlled cord traction

Vitamin K only to be administered in the event of an instrumental delivery.

Emergency Birth Plan

Emergency Caesarean Section

I would prefer to have a spinal rather than a general anaesthetic so that I can see/hold my baby as early as possible.

My husband to be present.

Baby to be given to me as soon as is possible. If I am unable to take baby, baby is to be given to my husband instead.

Cord clamping/cutting to be delayed as long as possible.

Baby to have vitamin K.

I will breastfeed.

I have to give credit for the emergency plan bit to the people on the parent thread - I wouldn't have thought of doing it.
