Thanks for putting my mind at rest! I have been given bits and pieces from my sister such as a travel cot and a baby gate but I feel like we need more! My partner keeps saying that after Christmas we'll get organised but I feel so anxious all the time about getting things sorted.
Is this your first baby Catw0man? Any names picked out?
Yep first baby, and we have a short-list of names, we will decide once he is born and see what he looks likegratefulforhelp wrote: »So ok for the lady in question?0 -
Had my 20 week scan today at 21 weeks. All normal except i have two lobes on my placenta, so is on front and back? They didn't say much so i assume it isn't going to be a massive problem. Anyone else have any experience of this?0

Evening ladies and bumps!!
Welcome to our newbies, make yourselves at home, we do!!!
The GTT test, I asked about it at my last appointment and was told that I would just have the usual bloods done at 28weeks and if it showed an issue I might be asked to come and go for it but that it wasn't something she thought I needed.
Struggling with nightshift at the moment. I am knackered and training up the new guy so my brain is having to work overtime explaining why things are doing what they are doing rather than just being able to do the job. Don't get me wrong, he's picking things up well, just asks so many d*mn questions!!!! lol
Can't wait to finish for my maternity leave but HR still need to get themselves sorted and confirm my dates. Typical of them here, useless.
I was complaining a few weeks ago about not looking pregnant but all of a sudden I seem to have expanded and I am feeling huge and very uncomfortable. Loads of folk have commented on the difference in the past week..... Worried that if I am feeling uncomfortable now at 25+5, what am I going to be like come closer to 40!!!! Scary thought!!!
I haven't seen DH since early hours of Monday and I think even he will be shocked come Friday night when I see him again!!!
Better go and do some work,,,,,,

I forgot all about the placenta too and was so relieved it was all over, enjoying looking at the baby etc, I got such a shock when the contractions started again (and I'm sure the midwife was tugging on the umbilical cord:eek:) I screamed at her " OMG what the hell are you doing!":o it was out in about 2 minutes though and the contractions weren't as bad a "baby" ones.
Got my bood flow scan in the morning, I'll report back when I get in work at lunchtime.
Nite nite peepsAKA: PC

Morning all! Sorry for not updating you all yesterday. Basically all the contractions stopped. Yesterday had a few braxton hicks but that's all. I'm very glad as there is so much to do before I'm ready! We had no food in the house at all so went first thing to asda yesterday to stock up on lots of stuff. Then got the boiler fixed. Also had my last day at work yesterday! So I've got a bit more time to sort things out. Unfortunately I have various work emails to do but may try to sort all that out today. My husband was on call last night so my parents came to stay just in case but they seem to have escaped without any overnight action!
Having those contractions did teach me a couple of things: one is how important position is - while I was sitting forward I was having painful contractions every couple of mins but as soon as I lay down it all stopped. I guess the baby's head moved when I lay down and stopped putting pressure on the cervix. Since then being up and about hasn't started things off again. Means I will definitely stay upright as much as I can when the real thing starts. Other thing is that the TENS machine is really effective - I was starting to find the contractions quite painful but when it went on all I could feel was the TENS - so much so that I wondered if the contractions had stopped and had to turn it down again.
Finally, realised that you probably never feel completely ready for the baby to arrive so don't worry alfalfa about feeling that way now - you have plenty of time but however much you sort out, you'll probably think of other things you need to do!
Hope the move goes well lilacpixie. Looking forward to hearing about the new house! Make sure you don't overdo things.
Any progress catw0man? Sorry - you've probably been asked that enough times already.
I've also been reading up on managing 3rd stage of labour. Have to say that I'm not someone adverse to medical intervention so I will be going for the injection as it speeds things up and reduces the chance of bleeding. From what I've read, although there seems to be a lot of debate about exactly when to cut the cord it doesn't really make much difference (which may be why so many people debate about it!). My OH has decided he would like to cut it to be involved (after weeks of saying he didn't want to) so it will be up to him when to do it!0 -

Good luck with your move. Let everyone else do the work.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
For those of you who have been in labour before....what did you eat and drink?
We've been recommended lucozade (which I can't stand). Can I have apple juice? Websites say to avoid grapefruit and orange juice.
Food wise we've been suggested empty calories like boiled sweets/fruit pastilles/glucose tablets. Will I not want a bag of crisps/sandwich?! I just can't imagine not eating
Why no orange juice? I've packed some small cartons, should I change to apple? I've also packed some lucozade tablets and intend to put some muesli bars in there this weekend. My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
