If you're induced then the baby isn't necessarily born that day - my SIL was induced and baby was born two days later.

Or if you are really lucky like I was, a week later :D:eek: hence the reason for not wanting to be induced this time round unless absolutely necessary!!

 Much as I would want to avoid a CS I don't think I would want to spend a whole week being induced.

LOL I think that's what got things going in the end. The consultant finally said one last time then it will be a section first thing in the morning, DD was born at 3.19am phew!:D

I'm suprised they waited so long before saying that - my hospital said they do three pessaries each twelve hours apart and if you haven't gone into labour within 36 hours they will offer to do a CS. (Well actually they said they will do one but what they really mean is they will offer to.)

Love the bag, but I am a Radley girl!! Have a small collection so I'm maybe a bit biased!

So ok for the lady in question?

For those of you who have been in labour before....what did you eat and drink?

Cereal bars/flapjacks. I like dorset cereal bars, yum.

We've been recommended lucozade (which I can't stand). Can I have apple juice? Websites say to avoid grapefruit and orange juice.

    Honestly, why?

Food wise we've been suggested empty calories like boiled sweets/fruit pastilles/glucose tablets. Will I not want a bag of crisps/sandwich?! I just can't imagine not eating :o

Take what you normally fancy, have a bit of choice. My experience was that I didn't differ much from normal in stage 1. In stage 2 you are a bit busy to eat!!
I like the bag, but would never spend that amount on a bag. I'd spend it on a pair of boots, like Uggs or something, though. I'm not really a 'bag' girl, or a girlie girl for that matter :)

I wouldn't for myself...but for a present maybe. Thanks for your help, all.

susan what is this "hospital won't let us" tell em to sugar off. Unless you are a question mark GA C section, then its nothing to do with them!

I have no intention of taking any notice in future. Although hopefully I will be having a home birth so it won't be a problem. I'm working on the basis that my house = my rules.

Hi all, I have been around but my emotions have been all topsy-turvy since the weekend and I didn't want to inflict them on anyone!
My cold has now gone and luckily I didn't develop a cough. I also have a raised rash around my belly button but it doesn't itch or seems to be getting any worse at the moment but I'll keep my beady eye on it!

    Welcome to all the newbies.

I have been trying to follow the thread but I can't remember very much - sorry all!

Lwcus - how did you get on today?

I'm off for a bath now, SPD seems to be getting worse now I'm getting bigger - can't believe that I'll be 32 weeks on Saturday, time seems to be flying by!

    Catch you all later x

Just popping in.....hope all are well. Any news from Ejecoms yet?

Re eating in labour - I contracted my way through a chicken chow mein from the chinese during the first stage and then didnt eat anything else til my post birth tea and toast, not that there was much time in between lol. Cant imagine Id have wanted to eat during full blown 'oh crap this really is labour' contractions, did have snacks for OH though, good job too, he was hungry even though he'd the chinese lol.

My bump is really painful at the moment, like braxton hicks but painful ones, pretty sure they werent painful last time, ah well ho hum, going to take myself off for an early night!

    Hope all are well xxxx

hello can I join you ladies? :j Only just found this thread. I'm 9 weeks pregnant with my third babe and v excited! I'm a veggie too and have been having major meat cravings. I ate meat through my last two pregnancies as had a major lapse after being veggie for years, however since DD was born 4 years ago went back to being veggie and am determined to resist ;) was v tempted by roast chicken leg on sunday and i fear the sight of pigs in bankets may be a temptation too much for me come xmas day! oh i have no will power!
Hope everyone is keeping well and warm xx
    Welcome Sparkly :)

    And welcome Alfalfa :)

I've done loads of reading about delivering the placenta tonight and I don't know what to do now. I can see the pros and cons of both, but think the pros of natural win for me. But having read some birth stories can see why people change their mind and go for a managed delivery.

I think I'd like to go in with the aim of delivering naturally, but with the option of changing my mind :) Or at the least wait for the cord to stop pulsating and then have the injection.
