Hi everyone - sorry I haven't been on for ages, been organising a conference which is now over so I have some time to breathe! I missed all the fun it seems but have joined the FB group and now know what happened ;)

Can anyone suggest a good, safe, efficient heater that I can get for the nursery that will shut off automatically when the room reaches the right temperature? I really don't want to have to leave the gas heating on all night, was watching the meter earlier when it was on and I was scared about how fast it was moving!

Hope everyone is ok - going to go back and read everything that's happened in the last few days :)

I took about 5 babygros and vests in, 2nd time, was in over night and bought a couple of clean ones home... But with DD1 I took 3 of each in and she puked green snot over all of them before the first night was up and my sister had to go to the hospital shop and buy her a couple of outfits...

Lilian, I have a portable gas filled radiator that we use now and again, not sure how efficient it is energy wise...

As far as prams go... I think I would be tempted to go with the one that fits the boot best... At the end of the day you'll be using it day in day out and if it's a squeeze, or has to go in a certain way it will soon get boring...

But, if you're really set on the one with the carrycot... Could you get your Mum to buy the pushchair part and get the carrycot yourself off eBay? They have very little use really so it's better to get a cheap 2nd hand one and sell it on again than buy it brand new and not get much back for it later...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Hey all, not been around for a couple of weeks, then when I tried to return on Friday all hell had broken loose!!!

Congrats to all those that have given birth while I've been gone, and hello to newbies.

About to start my last week of work, but not quite sure how I'm going to manage even that, I'm wiped today after going to Sainsburys and back, can't imagine what I'm going to be like in another 9-10 weeks time. And I've just volunteered to host Christmas, which I knew was going to happen, but I've been putting off...

Boob (esp. nipple) pain: have those suffering examined the nipple? I was having loads of pain because I was leaking at night and it was drying in the cracks, making them ultra-sensitive and painful as soon as I put anything tight against them (ie, a bra) or touched them. Just a suggestion.

Anyone had any experience with how difficult it is to get your HIP grant if a mistake's been made on the form... Phoned HMRC the other day to find out why I didn't have it yet and apparently MW has put my due date as January 2010 instead of January 2011... And common sense does not prevail over there...

I'm so excited. Wednesday is my 20 week scan. We are hoping to find out the sex, failing that we have a 4D scan next month.
    Good luck for Wednesday :)

Giz I'll be taking in 4 or 5 vests/bodysuits (vest that fasten in-between legs) then 5 or 6 babygrows/ sleepsuits. These are the same thing. I only hope to be in one day. But you never know when leaks and sicky accidents will happen.
You also never know what might happen when your in. My ds was born on the 30 th June 2007, 4 hours after the mad men drove a flaming truck into Glasgow airport.
We lived in Paisley ( 2 or3 miles away) so they took the 'bomber' to the local hospital.

They almost didn't let us in, but I arrived at the pushing stage, so now way I could make it to the southern.
Anyway I was told i could leave first thing in the morning (had ds at 7pm that night).
But the next day they locked down the hospital, no one could get in our out.
They did 2 controlled explosions on cars left in the car park.
My oh had came in to collect us just before the chaos.
We had to stay away from the windows and keep them shut. We had to stay another night then the next day leave via an underground service tunnel!!

It was all mayhem. So you never know when you need extra stuff lol.

Your oh can always bring in extras or take dirties home. Just make sure you have it all ready for him to bring. My oh brought it the wrong things.
Wow nic, what a nightmare that must have been. Goes to show you just don't know what might happen - things out of your control can stop you leaving hospital. I also plan on leaving asap (hoping the minimum 6 hours if no complications).

I don't have anywhere near 5 of each. I think I need to get a 5 pack of each then. I got one set of 0-3 month clothes from an NCT sale. Think there was 1 vest and maybe 1 or 2 sleepsuits. The vests I got from Debenhams are 3 - 6 months.
    Evening ladies

Giz - upto now I have 28 body suits and 12 sleepsuits. i'm not planning on getting anymore, ages range from newborn to 6 months. i think I've got too much older stuff and not enough newborn but hope people will buy us as gifts once bubs is here.
I would share my list of stuff for the hosp but it is saved on my work computer, shows how much work i do

    ok, pram question..............

well was very upset today to find out the silver cross linear freeway doesn't fit in my boot, so it's a choice between
    Silver Cross surf
    m+p sola
    m+p urbo

The urbo fits the best in the boot put I prefer the sola and it is cheaper and OH prefers the surf. I do love the idea of a silver cross tho, I really want a carrycot so it 'looks' traditional, but as mum is paying the surf gets too dear with the carrycot............any tips???
Thanks Dusty. Seems I'm way on the short side for clothes. So will purchase a few more.

As for pushchairs, we have the Urbo. Sola was ruled out immediately because we don't know the sex and I didn't like the browny/orange colour. The best advice I can give is to keep revisiting and trying them out before committing. I looked at and played with the Urbo 4 times. The 3rd time I panicked and started having doubts so we went out to find our other short lister (quinny buzz) but when we saw the buzz again that set the urbo in stone. I drive everywhere and don't go anywhere with 'rough' terrain so the urbo is ideal. I also have issues with pushchairs being so bulky, so again the urbo fit the bill as it's narrow. The small shopping basket isn't an issue for me as I'm not the type to have bags and bags of stuff.

Maybe write down the pros/cons of each one and work out which points are more important to you.

Don't forget if you do decide on a M&P - there are always those 10% off sales. We got ours in the sale. And I used the £10 of vouchers they did in October for November to buy the footmuff and car seat adapter. And did you know if you register on M&P website you get sent a catalogue with a £5 giftcard in the post? Me and OH both registered and we got one each.

Sorry don't know for sure, but on baby and bump forum there was someone with a similar issue. She said they were sending the form back to her or something but never followed up to see if it got resolved. Did they say they would send the form back?
