    Morning all!

Well, woken this morning by painful contraction about 5.30. Had some more over the next hour or two. Sorry if TMI but had some dia-woo-woo and then vomited up breakfast. Husband left for work about 6.30 but I didn't tell him as didn't want to stress him. Realised I'm not ready for this baby at all! There is no food in the house at all. Have been planning to defrost freezer and then stock up on things. Also have 2 more days at work and lots to sort out before I finish.

Decided to come in to work because:
    1. Work is closer to hospital than home is.
    2. Rather be here and have someone to come with me if necessary to hospital than be on my own at home.
    3. It is our office Christmas lunch today!! And I hadn't left my secret Santa present!
    4. If this isn't labour then I'd like to get this work sorted so I can finish and enjoy my mat leave.

Once I got to work, things seemed to settle down although perhaps that's because I was concentrating on the work rather than contractions. Now becoming more aware of them but feels like tightening rather than painful. Have had 2 while typing this.

Humm... Sounds a bit like labour doesn't it? Think I'm still in denial... Better get back to work!

    Anyway, will keep you updated!
  • Morning everyone.

Just a quick question. Does anyone know how much notice I legally need to give my company if I want to change the date I start my maternity leave? I've realised that I won't be able to take all my holiday in time, so want to push it back by about 4 days. I won't be in work for any longer, but my maternity pay will start a few days later.

    Thanks

    HM

Eje, sounds like baby might well be on the way if it keeps going - but labour is a slow old process usually, so if you're happy and comfy where you are, I'd be inclined to enjoy lunch :) After all, if you are going into labour, you'll need all the energy you can get ;)

But this is coming from she who thinks it's all a bit early to be worrying about baby shopping at 32 weeks, and still has nowhere for baby to sleep and nothing for her to wear until I go to MIL's next week to see what I left in her loft, so you may not want to listen to me!

    Good luck!

Congrats to you and your daughter Cheerydee - enjoy those granny cuddles :)

Good luck at the appt Fairyshazza, what are you asking her? I have a list of things too but want to check I've not missed anything. Mine not for another two weeks.

Blimey - ejecoms, you like living on the edge don't you?

well, need to add gym ball to my list of things still to buy.

What do people think about plum in the bathroom? We are having white walls with beige tiles on the splash back. Do you think white plum and chrome go?

I'm thinking along the lines of this from next (with obv the cheaper verisons from asda and wilkies :))

I think plum, white and chrome diamante is very girlie so would take some convincing of OH.

    *Moan Alert*

Im starting to think I might have actually done something wrong yesterday because the amount of pain Im in is awful. Walking, standing up and going upstairs are particularly painful. Have made it into work because I felt like I should after taking time off last week now I wish I had stayed at home.

Anyhoo am trying to get a docs appt for later this afternoon, see if I can get myself signed off cos I think the only way this is going to heal is by getting some rest and not trekking it into work by walking/bus everyday. Failing that the least Im going to ask for is something a bit stronger than paracetamol.

Sorry, just wanted a whinge cos it hurts :(

Our bathroom has white tiles aorund the bath with blue mosaic detail, a lino tile-effect floor and purple walls, with grey woodwork and chrome accessories (radiator, mirror etc). It looks lovely, so I think yours should look good too.

Sounds like the gym ball is a goer. Is it right that I want a big one? Is it a 68cm one or something?

It really depends on your height - when you sit on it you want to have your feet flat on the floor and have your knees and hips in alignment - certainly don't let your hips be lower than your knees - if it's too big you won't be comfortable or well balanced. It needs to be firm too so you get a good rebound. Sports shops should have them in a variety of sizes, you may be able to try some out to get an idea of the size you need then go and get a cheaper one:p.

EJ - wow! It's probably a good idea to keep your mind off things though, if it ends up being a long labour then you don't want to be sitting around twiddling your thumbs!

This is my list so far....

    * Ask for MATB1 form as need it for work and haven't been given it yet
    * Fill in HIP Grant form (not sure if you qualify for the HIP Grant Dusty as we only just made it in before the cut off date ourselves)
    * Ask about Ante-Natal Classes
    * Ask about hospital tour
    * Ask what I can use/do to help ease the backaches I've been getting in lower back

Thats about it for general questions :)

Am also going to ask about rash I have on my legs which looks like patches of extremely dry skin. I think she will say it's something for the doctor but OH is determined I should ask her about it.

OH says he wants to ask about birth plan - who do we give it to etc I've told him I already know about that and have started thinking about it but again he is determined he wants to ask :o
