  • I love the nursery pictures MV the wall stickers are gorgeous and look really good :) I hope you are pleased with it all.

No snow here at all Ejecoms mores the pity – I would’ve liked our school to have been closed for a snow day today :p I hope your little one starts moving round for you soon!

Sarah hehehehe pesky bubs giving you all those movements after you’d been at the hospital. Am glad that all was well :)

Am jealous of all those who have a German Market on their doorstep – I love them and for the first time in about three years I’m not sure if we will get a chance to go to one this year :(

I continued my productive day yesterday by having a good old sort of a few things around the house and a blooming good tidy up :) unfortunately had a severe bout of insomnia last night and didn’t get to sleep past 2am so have had around 4 hours sleep (probably less with toilet trips) am not doing too badly atm although it might be a different story this afternoon! :o

  • Morning all.

I've just had a peek at the thread about Milton yesterday, and there was a discussion on there about using boiled and cooled water to sterilise bottles (I personally wouldn't do this, as I know that the water would have then cooled down through the optimum bacterial growth temperature), and how tap water is bacteria-free. I know that one or two people were worried about bacteria and newborns and how they can be really bad even at very small levels

It made me wonder last night, while I was waiting for Sproglet to stop wriggling enough for me to go to sleep. How many bacteria are going to be on my breasts when I'm busy BFing? I'm certainly not going to boil them  or apply any anti-bacterial solution to them before feeding the monster. So does that mean we risk over protecting children by removing any trace of bacteria, or do we put babies at risk of bacteria by BF?

Random thought I know, but it was quite late at night and I was tired. :D

  • Oh roll on 29th December when this baby bump lodger will be evicted!! He's giving me so much grief at the moment.....mega braxton hicks.....what has anyone else experienced on their 3rd pregnancy? Honestly I was so cramped up yesterday could hardly move at times.

And then there's the heartburn, using my bladder for a trampoline (well, upside down cos I saw the midwife last week and she said he's fully engaged)so maybe just headbutting the bladder instead?! Oh and the *piles* :o oww my sore bum!

Sorry can you tell I'm having a moan!! 35 weeks preg and fed up.....I can't be the only one!
"Put the kettle on Turkish, lets have a nice cup of tea.....no sugars for me.....I'm sweet enough"
  • Thanks Dusty (and hungrymummy for asking!) I was also wondering about this!

No worries, I'm obviously having one of those simple pain free births where I can be straightening my hair throughout in anticipation of the after birth pictures :rotfl:
  • Morning all.

    Thanks for the welcomes. :D

I slept really well last night, apart from the usual loo trips. Got about 11 hours. :o

Do I remember seeing a list of baby essentials somewhere? I'm trying to start a list of what we're going to need (mainly because I like to be organised but also to help me budget!), but I'd like to see what others are doing.

I'm really loving the mothercare Humphrey's Corner range, but might have to see if I can make some bits myself, because it's not cheap.

MV - Those stickers are fab, and I love the fireplace too.

Having a queasy day, feel a bit lightheaded as well, so going to go and have a snack I think.

I'm sure there was something else I was going to say...

Oh, one thing is that I've got my gender scan booked for the 21st Dec!! :j It's at night so DH doesn't have to miss work, and my mum is coming too.
 Mummy to an amazing little girl

Snow is quite bad here too, we went into town yesterday, the car in front spun round and DH had to push him out! Only the ring road was clear, the other road were a nightmare - fortunately have a 4x4 as well as people carrier, so we are having a rethink about which car we will use to go to the hospital!! The farmer has been down and cleared the snow off the road but now it's like a sheet of ice! And the snow was coming in over the top of my wellies when I was walking the dogs! Hoping bubs makes an appearance soon, as DH may be laid off work due to the snow :( He was laid off for 2 weeks in January when the snow was bad, but if it co-incided with the birth it would be very handy!!

No boiling of breasts needed, the natural bacteria on your skin will not harm babe, so long as you wash from time to time!

On the overprotection front, there is a theory that asthma and eczema are worsened by this.
