Does this mean I have to threaten legal action or is there another letter I send ? I'd rather not get into the legal action side of things if I didn't have to.
Thanks for your help0 -
Called them today as did not have chance yesterday.
Spoke to a lady who i informed i was not satisfied with the offer of £98.00.
Explained that as they did not respond to my letter within 14 days i had continued with the court process...this did not sink in!
As i had already payed my court fees i made her aware that i will not accept anything less than what they owe including interest and court fees totaling 259.55. I said if they made a payment today in the full amount then i would call off the court action.
Again she seemed to think i was just making a threat!
She decided to tell me that i was asking for too much and i would not even get the interest unless decided by a court.
I did point out that if she did her research that mine is a very small amount in comparison to some they have paid out without going to court, denying this she said that they would have had to go to court to get the interest.
Maybe she is to busy to read MSE
Anyway....she would not budge an inch so i informed her that the court notice still stands and that (which did not appear to be on they system) as at this point she asked me if i had started the court process! I told her i had already done so and i informed her of it being served some days ago, she finished by saying it will be in the hands of the legal team now.
I got home from work and have looked at my bank account on-line and they have paid in the £98 that i have rejected. They said it would go in within 14 days it went in on the 5th they day they posted the letter.
The chances are that i have spent it....ooops:rolleyes:
I guess i will now write to them thanking them for the £98 and that it is £171.55 short which i will continue to claim via the courts.
As i said I'm man of principle and doing this for that rather than the money, above all as a senior trade union rep i love a good fight!
All i can say to Halifax is bring it on and here i come!0 -
Ok am a complete newbie here just wondering  . I, as it seems with most people on here, have received the ole refusal to pay my charges from Halifax letter. I sent them the taking you to court letter that was about 7 weeks ago and still havent heard from them. I am now wishing that I had included bank charges as on looking into it its gonna total a few hundred extra. Am I too late to add bank charges on as I am now about the go down the route of court action.??0

You can add on charges up to the stage when you start court action but are you meaning adding interest?0

Hi,
From what i remember when i submitted my claim with money claim it asked me if i intended to claim interest and of course i ticked the yes box. Therefore they will do the work at the court and if you win the interest will be calculated up until the day of judgment.
I would use the online calculator on this site so that you have a good idea of what you should be entitled too.
I just re-evaluated mine and as i am doing this on principle and not necessarily the money ....although it will be nice....i have increased my claim based on interest on todays date, as i am wanting to push them as far as possible until they make a decent offer i.e in full to reconsider stopping court action.0 -
