Good morning all...
Just a quick question... Claiming on behalf of the wife for just over 2 grand. They initially asked for eight weeks. Which we gave them. Just before the eight weeks was up the replied that they were not going to pay out. Rang the number on the letter to say not happy and would like the case re-evaluating. Have since rang yesterday and been told that they have escalated the claim....
What does escalating the claim mean?
cheers

Hi,
I have been through the following using the templates found on this website;
.........
* Telephoned this morning and again was informed they had no record of my account and to write to the main Halifax Leeds address again.
* Submitted complaint to Information Commissioner this morning.
Anyone else had this problem?
Any ideas what I should do next??Halifax WON! Claimed £1549 on 8th Jan 2007, Settled for £1350 on 29th Jan, Paid 7th Feb.

Has anyone had this problem?
definatley ring them, be nice yet firm on the phone. Is your account still active as they usually ignore the letters that accounts have been closed. They have sent me a letter saying bank charges are gair blah blah blah and then they have not replied to my second letter so I phoned them yesterday and they said its been sent to be discussed by someone higher and have up to eight weeks to let me know Im hoping they will come back to me with an offer. anyone else at this stage or been at this stage. might try that obusman guy...Total debt £17,135 total paid off £5250 -

hi, having read lots of previous posts on here, a lot of peeps having got an offer have called the number on the letter and negotiated a better amount. you can still do "with out prejudice" and go for the balance. best bet is to look over the previous threads to get an idea of your next move.:TDuct tape is like the force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the world together."

This is getting crazy now. they should just pay everyone back and leave it at that instead of playing stupid games of how far can they push the customer. But like someone said after receieving the second 'charges are fair' letter some ppl dont go any further and leave it at that. does my nut in.Total debt £17,135 total paid off £5250

So you think i should call and renegotiate?The actual Charges are 1113.39 while the rest is interets i would be happy with £1000 .Im not really sure how i go about negotiating what do you say,or should i write a letter and goto ombudsman or court?0
