Hi
I sent the Halifax the reclaim letter.
No reponse after 40 days so I called them today and they have no details regarding my bank account of their system. The account was closed by them under 6 years ago because I was in arrears, but they have managed to locate my Loan details and Credit Card info.
They wont give me information and suggested that I go into a branch and see if they can help.
I've sent them the letter that Rex_Mundi suggested
Has anyone had this happen.
thanks0 -
Hi everyone,
I recently accepted an offer with the Halifax to get the money for my charges back but they're taking ages. It's been over two weeks since I accepted their offer and the money was supposed to be in my account today.
Am I being impatient or should I do something?0 -

give them a call and ask why they are so quick to take money out (a couple of days) but it is so difficult to put money back in...0 -

Hi, its also been over two weeks for me, but they say 14 working days, which takes me to thursday. Everytime i ring, they say there is nothing they can do, just keep checking my account, which I am now sick of doing!!! Will let the forum know when it finally arrives.0 -

Hi,
I am at the stage where I should take the bank to court. But I received a letter on 30th March saying they will respond to me before the 1st May. The court action will take roughly the same length of time. So my question is do I wait for their response or take them to court. My claim is for £950.
Thank you for any advice.0 -
Hi All I posted on this site the other day to say that I had been made an offer by Halifax to refund my charges but it was only for 2070.00. I was undecided as to phone and ask for the full amount or just accept the offer. I rang most of yesterday but no response. So phoned the main customer relations number and got put through to the person who sent the offer. I asked how he had come to this amount when the full amount was 2374. without interest. He explained the way they calculate the amount offered. So i bartered and said that I would accept the full amount without the interest if we could resolve it today. Hey presto i have been offered the full amount without interest. He said a new letter of offer would be in the post. Now fingers crossed that the money comes in a resonable time. Big thanks to all on this site and Martin without whos help and advice i would never have got this far . Keep going guys all of you who are claiming GOOD LUCK :T :rotfl: :T :rotfl: :T

Hi again,
I too have been ill, (unfortunate enough to have a long term medical issue), and while I have been recovering from my last incident, the halifax have thrown another charge my way so I'll be sure to add it to the total. Now I was going to send letter 4 on the day I received the 8 weeks to sort out blarney, but was delayed by my illness, so as they are taking the charge on 09-04-07, I'll send the threat of court action letter on that day including that charge.
Also as mentioned in my last post, I will be sending the letter guaranteed delivery as recorded delivery is NOT guaranteed ! ! ! as I found out after days and days of waiting for the RM portal to tell me the letter had been signed for..... The first one I sent was fine and was signed for the next day, (statement request), but the second, (refund of charges), took alot longer and after speaking to the royal mail rep on the phone, I was told that it could take as long as it takes to be delivered.....due to it not being guaranteed.....
In conclusion if you want your timeframe to be on par, then please send your letters guaranteed delivery, especially if your claim is big....
I hope this helps and good luck to all as we WILL win OUR hard earned cash back.................................

Oh Just a quick one.....
How many of you like me went 'Paper Free' with their banking ? ? ?
This does beg the question, no paper, no letter, so how much is the charge ? ?
Thought I'd throw that one in too as how much does an email cost to send ? ? ?
Good luck to all and be strong...

afternoon folks;
Heres on for you. Just called the charming Halifax to make sure they recieved my statement request as was sent with ten pound cheque on 8th and signed for on 9th. Bank advised never received and no notes on any file. asked how long back was requesting statements so i said 6 yrs. "oh, your claiming your money back are you?" was her reply. I confirmed i was looking into this. She then said, and this is the strange bit, that instead of sending my statements, they will look thru my records, work out how much i have paid and send me a letter confirming how much I am owed. she also asked if i had any idea how much this is likely to be which i dont. she said its fine and they will let me know.
Now, im all for their co-operation but have not heard of this before. iv agreed to let them do this but am also going to my branch on satuarday to again request the statements. Surely my statement amounts will be the same figure they come up with and they wouldnt try to pull the wool over my eyes?????
has any one else been told this ? please let me know what you think as this sounds strange to me.
Ill keep you all informed
afternoon folks,
after the above message which i posted and thought was strange as no one else seems to have been told, i pout 5 in my account as not used any more and needed to pay for the statements. called to check progress yesterday only to be told iv incurred an interest charge of approx 80p which is great as can only get to bank at weekend so will no doubt push my claim back even further.
Anywho, i get just now to find a letter from the charming halifax folks which starts
"thank you for your recent telephone call to our Retail Call Centre. It is my understanding that you are looking to challange against our charge policy and as such claim back any charges you incurred over the last 6 years. Due to the nature of this request, I have escalatef your complaint to a Senior Customer Relations Manager, whom will respond to you in due course"
and goes on to explain that should my concerns remain unsolved to let them know my concerns and if they HAVENT HEARD FROM ME IN THE NEXY 8 WEEKS they will assume I am happy.
Has anyone else received such a letter? If so, what was the outcome. Iv read plenty of posts but none again that sounds like this. With this being the 2nd strange contact Iv had, im beginning to get a tad concerned.
Any advice or comments would be most welcome
Cheers0
