    hi there,

take no notice of their time dead lines - stick to your schedule! send the before court letter and amend to say as you have not received a satisfactory response etc etc. what they are doing is what most of them are doing...stalling for time!

I think you can do either really.

I sent my letter to the head office address, however my partner sent his to our local branch as he is claiming also and we have both had letters back saying they have received our request.

    Hi Everyone,

Further to my previous thread with regards to the Halifax offer letter, i called them today asking when payment would be reaching my account, i was informed that they had not received my letter of acceptance, so i said thats fine fax it to me and i will fax it back, this time i wrote on it the period i was claiming from, i received a fax back saying please call we need to discuss your fax. I called, and the bloke from Halifax said all future offers that have been altered in anyway will not be accepted, for us to pay the offer to you which i will add is all of your charges ,you must not alter it in anyway, you have to understand that if you try to claim against us at a future date we will close down your account. ( I thought because of all these charges recently my credit rating must be bad now as i have missed payments to other organisations recently and i know that it gets recorded on your credit file as a late payment which does not look good. SO I THINK I WILL HAVE TO ACCEPT HIS PROPOSAL, as my account is just getting out of control.

    regards

Received all my statements today - in 17 seperate envelopes!

Will have to look into them over the next few days but just wondered, is everyone going ahead and charging them for interest also or just the amount you have been charged from them over the years?

Just wanted to check which is most successful before I send my letter off.

    Cheers!

    Hi Lou Lou.

I think Martin said you would probably get a quicker settlement if you don't charge interest, but i have read several threads where people have charged the Halifax interest and been paid don't know the time scale for them. I did'nt and received an offer within two days after sending my second letter.

Hope to be paid this week.

    Hi all,

I am claiming £3750 in charges for the last three years. The Halifax sent me my statements as requested in about a week, so that was OK but at the moment the response has been "we will look into your complaint and come back to you within 4 weeks" sort of thing.

Am I obliged to wait the 4 weeks before I take further action or can I stick to my 14 day limit? I don't want to jeopardise my claim by being too impatient!

    Any help gratefully received!

    Thank you!

no, don't let them use stalling tactics - stick to your time schedule and send the before court action letter amending it to say you haven't received a satisfactory response.

    Good luck

By the way... I've been filling in the breakdown of charges spread sheet and I've no idea what some of the charges were for 3 or 4 years ago. It's not really clear from my statements and I have no record of the rates of charges back then. Can any one help?

    £30.00 in 2002
    £20.00 in 2003

    Many thanks (again)

    Tinwe :o

Sorry to ask again but I think my question got lost in the debate... does anyone have any idea what the Halifax were charging the above amounts for in 2002/3? I need to know to fill in my spread sheet and get going with it!
  • Posted 1st letter into the local branch Monday , came back to find in post that my old account is in hands of a DCA !!

I am on a DMP with payplan so it was forwarded on to them.

I haven't used my Halifax account since i started on DMP, (14 months ago) and all charges and interest was stopped then. At time my OD was £900, now at £700  mainly due to bank charges building up while I was off sick, then unemployed, Got no joy in pleading with them about my circumstances.
If I am successful would i receive a cheque or payment into my Halifax account?

    Hi,

I think to be sure you would have to ask the halifax themselves, you may be able to do this over the phone, perhaps just ask about a couple if examples. I've found some of their telephonists can be suprisingly helpful, supportive even. :D
