Well the Halifax promptly posted 6 years worth of statements within 8 days of my request. The total amount charged came to £2052 (without interest).
So I have sent my request to day for a refund.......feel nervous!!!!
This is my first post xx:eek:

They seem to reply when they have to!
Well spent last 3 mths trying to claim back charges and in that time not a word from them. Took it to court stage, eve of 14th day they acknowledge the claim. Well at least I know that they are aware now.0 -
I asked if I could speak to someone over the phone about coming to a decision on refunding the charges and was told "no they don't do that".. when presented with the fact that people have had phone calls 'offering' refunds she said it depends on thd person dealing with it.
So that means the Halifax person who wants to play silly bu**ers and not settle before the claim is filed is costing the bank an extra 8% interest plus court costs.
You'd think in the current climate when banks know they can't win they would settle up with the minimum of fuss rather than generate some of the bad press and PR that some of them are at present.0 -
Yes, you need to send a list of charges with Date, Charge Name, Amount and a Total.
Send it with every letter to them (they'll still probably deny having received it in their defence if it goes to court)
Also, remember Registered post for all written correspondance.
Thanks for the reply nickmack
Unfortunately, I sent the letter off before I saw you reply and now I realise how stupid I am  ....
The total of £1842.05 I sent in my claim is wrong! God knows why, but I've short-changed myself by being stupid. Basically, I had a total to claim for of £xxxx (can't remember exactly now) and I thought you just put the total in the interest calculator with the first date a charge was raised against me. So, I've short-changed myself with the interest cos it should be more that £1842.05 with interest on the individual charges.
What do you think I should do? Send another letter stating the previous calculations were incorrect and demanding the new amount, or wait till I hear from them and haggle?
Cheers!0 -

The defendant should acknowledge the claimant's letter in writing within 21 days of receiving it. The acknowledgement should state when the defendant will give a full written response. If the time for this is longer than the period stated by the claimant, the defendant should give reasons why a longer period is needed.
It is this section that bothers me, from what other have posted is that the Bank of Scotland is saying that the FSA give them 8 weeks to respond to a complaint, would a court see this as a good enough reason to for the bank to delay any action? "I'm Just A Demin Boy"
