I'm tempted to phone the complaints department tonight and just say "look, we both want to get this sorted - lets do it now rather than going through the courts" although if I settle before then I'm guessing I dont get the interest or the moneyclaim fee back (which was £120)0 -

I sent mine to Customer Relations in Leeds, I would address it to a Customer Relations Manager, that was something I didnt do and I would send it special delivery it cost me £4.10, but its tracked all the way by Royal Mail, as recorded isnt tracked until its delivered so it can get lost easily.
i just bought a 10 pound postal order...lol
oh well maybe ile keep this oe for my sis as i know she needs it an send 5Which came first the chicken or the egg....suppose it depends on which one is mispriced...i know not funny0 -

Hi all, my first post but a good one I think. Requested my statements via Halifax about a month ago, they took my 5 pound charge from my account. 3 days later I recieved my statement found out I was owed 966 pounds in unfair charges. I sent my first letter just over 3 weeks ago saying I wished for a reply within 14 days, I recieved nothing in reply. Sent the 2nd letter after the 14 days giving them another 7 days to reply before court action and I got a phone call yesterday. I spoke to a very nice chap, he told me all the normal stuff that the banks have been doing, he then offered me 500 pounds. I said I wouldnt accept, he then asked how much I would accept to make it easier on the bank and me not going to court. I thought about it and said 800 pounds, he put me on hold then came back to me and agreed 800 pounds if I signed a letter saying that I would now not claim for anymore unfair charges. I said ok, and he said the letter was on its way.
Good news. Just wondering how long does it take for them to put the money in your account? He said anything upto 14 days.
Thanks to the owners of this site, without them I wouldn't be 800 pounds better off!:j0 -
Just received a letter from RBS yesterday confirming their receipt of my claim, they said they try and resolve all complaints within one week, but if its more complicated it could take up to 8 weeks for them to investigate my claim. DO i have to wait the full 8 weeks or can i send the third letter?? Any help or advice appreciated>
They also put a leaflet in "How to complain" etc....i think the slogan was something like "its our job to make you happy" (yeah, right) ::rotfl:0 -
Are you claiming from Royal Bank of Scotland aka RBS or Bank of Scotland aka HBOS?0

I got my first response in 7 days
as Follows
Thank you for your recent complaint
We are sorry to learn that you are unhappy with the charges debited to you bank account. Please note the complaint handling rules set by our regualtor the FSA gives us up to 8 weeks to investigate and respond to complaints.
Well I wasnt complaining I was asking for the "illigal" charges to be returned so I suppose its second letter time
I received this also, I've just moved onto Letter No.2 and left in the bit "as I have not received a satisfactory response" because to me that isn't satisfactory. Another 7 days to go, then court action.
Is it just me or is the Halifax totally dragging their heels with new tactics??We will win this! we will!.... and we did! :j0 -
