Have tried to read as much as poss of this board. My charges only come to £250 but thats still £250 of my money! I do have a high overdraft limit though and could not afford to repay it if they were to close my account. Is there anyone who has attempet to reclaim fees from halifax that has had their account closed?0

I was told on the phone today it was 40 days from the date my cheque was cashed, which was some 19 days after my letter date, Ive written to Halifax (sent today by special delivery of course!!) telling them they have 40 days from the date of my letter and not the date from when it was cashed, and that they must reply by 27th March 2007 (my letter was 14th Feb 07) or I am going to report them to the information commisoner.0 -
The 40 days should start from when your bank has deemed to have received your letter. If you post a letter on a Friday they aren't going to receive it before the Monday or in fact you may date the letter then not post for a couple of days.0

Halifax are being complete muppetts...after claiming to have not received the initial DPA request letter and £10 postal order, we called them and paid again by bank transfer just so that we could get the ball rolling...
They have apparently been printed on 2nd March so should be turning up any day now (apparently??!)...I'm just fuming over the Halifax call centre as she said there is a huge backlog due to people claiming back charges etc and that we could go into the branch and they can print 6 years worth of statements for us...
so off we toddle today and they can't print them off that far back ahhhh:mad:0 -
Feb 7th : Amount Claimed £3904 no interest
Amount offered Nothing
Feb 19th: Amount claimed £3904 plus interest
Amount offered ...Holding reply
Feb 28th: Issued Notice at Court
March 6th : Amount offered £3880 no interest, neither accepted, nor declined nor paid.
March 31st: Halifax settled including interest, amounting to £4700
The story so far, I first wrote to Halifax in April 2006 asking for a breakdown of my bank charges. I banked with them from April 2003 until April 2006, in that time £110,000 passed through the account, and I had an agreed overdraft of £1000. I paid 110 bank chgarges in this time, I took another job to increase my income, but the bank charges outstriped my ability to pay money in.My overdraft rose, and my ability to service other debts got worse.
I wrote two Halifax twice, using the templates, and got a holding reply, on the phone Halifax called it an eight week letter. I used Moneyclaimonline and perhaps as a result of the claim being served on Halifax on 5th March they sent an offer of a gesture of goodwill. :A I took some advice and was told that a dfendant only has the options on the Notice of Issue to settle a claim, and thats either to defend, or pay the claim in full. I asked for interest, which comes to nearly £5000. I wish I had thought about adding the other losses I had suffered as a result of their actions. Watch this space,I may take the money, I may hold out. What to do?
So, I waited, Halifax aknowleged the online claim giving up to 28 days to submit a defence, and then settled without admitting liability. Thanks to Moneysavingexpert and bankcharges shell and moneyclaim.0 -

It more the fact I was told that its 40 days from when they cashed my cheque. I felt like saying, look you have acted illegally, olets just get on with it and stop the messing around. Halifax are muppets, couldnt agree more.0 -

I was told yesterday by the halifax, that its only £5 threy charge (I sent £10) and that there where 'very dubious' websites telling people to send £10 lol!!! I sent mine to Customer Relations in Leeds, I would address it to a Customer Relations Manager, that was something I didnt do and I would send it special delivery it cost me £4.10, but its tracked all the way by Royal Mail, as recorded isnt tracked until its delivered so it can get lost easily.0
