halifax bank charges (merged)

I wrote to the Halifax last Monday 26th February. Sent them 2 letters each letter claiming off a different account. Account 1 for £1300 and Account 2 for £317. Had a letter back last Saturday confirming receipt of letter regarding account 1 but nothing about account 2. Telephoned them yesterday and they reckon they only received the letter abouce account 1. Even though both letters went in the same envelope!!!
Re-sent letter about account 2 yesterday afteroon so will keep fingers crossed. How long on average have Halifax taken regarding making me an offer or just paying me the money back? Are they being difficult?0 -
I have entered a claim on behalf of my son. They sent the statements very quickly and I took the first letter in by hand. He has received a reply stating that they now have a legal department dealingsolely with this item and saying that they cannot forward on his letter unless it is worded in a specific manner. They have provided a sample letter that quotes case law and even, at the end states that he feels it is unfair to subsidise the bank's global debts.
I think it is best to tell them using template 2 that their response is unsatisfactory and unless he receives the money he will be submit a claim for the full amount plus interest.
Has anyone else been through this particular hoop and what was the result?0 -
hi guys,
just wondered if you could help. I am ESTIMATING my claim of my account charges over the last 6 years from the Halifax. I've done this by following a bbc money webpage advice and working out my charges over the past year, and multiplying by 6. I originally claimed £1392, they wrote and offered by £550 to which i said no. I'm just in the process of applying to the county court as they didnt respond to my last letter, so do i apply for the full £1392 even though i am not 100% sure they have charged me this? in the past year they have charged £232, which i have multiplied by 6 to get £1392, but what if this amount is incorrect? will my case be thrown out and ill have to pay all the court fees? advice needed as i do not want to end up shooting myself in the foot!! cheers.
PS my first offer from Halifax i recieved within 16 days, but they haven't replied to second letter for those asking how long it takes.0 -
I sent a letter (recorded delivery) to my local branch on 4th February claiming bank charges of just over £1000, giving them 14 days to respond. Received a letter back on 13th February saying it had been passed to Customer Relations Dept. I contacted my branch yesterday to ask what was happening they said a letter was on its way to say they were investigating my complaint. I received a letter today saying exactly that and they would respond as soon as possible, but certainly no later than 3rd April.
Do I accept this or contact them

Accept it for now niki and leave it a little longer. I had the 'dealing with your complaint' letter within 14 days, within the next 14 days I had an offer. Try and sit tight, they'll be dealing with thousands and thousands of these. If you don't hear anything within another 2 weeks, I'd ring them.0

This is exactly why you should not estimate your charges. When/if this ends up in court part of your defence is your list of charges making up your claim. It is likely the court will not accept an estimation, especially an estimation on 5 years of charges when the charges from 6 years ago were more than likely at a lesser rate than the past year.
Although I disagree with the BBC website suggesting you estimate charge, it does not say that you should estimate the major part of your claim.
I can only suggest you get your information/statements and make sure of your claim before you start taking the bank to court.0 -
They cashed my cheque yesterday and I posted my letter on Feb 14th. Looking for some feedback on how long they take after cashing cheque ?? Should I phone and chase them up.
P.s. Anyone know the opening hours of customer relations ??0 -

Hi
One week ago I started my claim (from template letters) with Halifax for two accounts, one just under 4,000 and the over 5,500. Today I have received a letter seperately for both stating they are sorry to hear I am unhappy with their charges and they have sent my letters to the Customer Relations Department. They have also stated they aim to get back to me 'within 4 weeks'. My initial request letter would have expired next week now I have to wait another 4 weeks!
Is this delay tactics, should I continue as I would have done?
Also on a seperate matter, last year, before we knew of all these proceedings, we argued with Halifax over a weeks worth of charges totalling 300.00. We had these returned but signed a document saying that we would not oppose any charges thereafter. Will this go against us? If it does, can we still apply for all the charges totalling 3,000 up to the month preceding that letter?
I would really appreciate some advice.
Magatag xWe will win this! we will!.... and we did! :j0
