Hi Everyone,
Sent the third letter last week informing the Halifax that i intend to claim through the courts and today was the 7th day, I was about to start the Moneyclaim online when i received a letter today saying that Halifax were sad that i was unhappy and that my letter had been passed over to their complaints dept and that i would get a reply within 4 weeks.
Can anyone tell me what now happens, should i send them another letter indicating that i am not willing to wait? not sure what to do now!!! Please can someone advise me.
Thanx

You stick to your own timetable. This looks like another type of delaying tactic. If they haven't offered to settle the full amount by the date you set them, issue a court claim. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Well, i've got my letters ready asking for list of charges from Halifax and First Trust (in NI). Posting recorded delivery tomorrow.
Also letter asking for refund of charges on another halifax account (newer, so have all charges available online) - going recorded tomorrow too!
Total claimed : £157.03 (with int) - not all of the charges have been applied yet (1 @ end of dec.), but totted them all up anyway.
Using address in Halifax.
will keep you informed of my progress :-)0 -
recieved my halifax statements on two accounts, one with all statements dating back to 1990!! in 16 years on that account i have only had one 30 pound charge! however the joint account which has been open 4 years has 314 ponud in charges, so i am going to pursue the claim.
however my biggest gripe is the fact that all the statements were in one envelope which had been battered to **** and the envelope was all torn and exposed my account no and sort code, slightly concerned over the security of that account now, any advice on who to complain to? halifax royal mail or both? i took photos before opening.0 -

Hi all, I am pretty desperate for some advice. I wrote to Halifax requesting £201 bank charges from my Cardcash account back and received a standard 'Sorry to hear you are unhappy...hear from us in 4 weeks' letter on the 22nd November. My payday was the 23rd November and a day later on the Friday night i noticed to my horror £688 cash had been taken from my CardCash account! I rang the callcentre in a right state and was given Retail Bank Collections number who informed me it was to pay off my existing £1600 Credit Card debt (the limit is £1000 so charges have been incurred to the tune of £600) which i had defaulted on. The lady said this couldnt be refunded (fair enough this is my fault) and advised me to call back in a few days to agree a repayment plan on the remaining £960 or so. I checked my account Wednesday of this week and another £20 had been taken! I rang last night and agreed a short term (3-6 month) repayment of £50 a month starting on 23rd December and they said no more money would be taken from my bank account but im uneasy about this- i have had to borrow £700 from my boyfriend to live and get through Christmas etc. The problem is do i continue my claim for my £201 bank charges as i owe them money on my CC- i dont want them taking the £960 after my next payday! Help!!!0

I have applied to Money Claim Online - online county court application - to take Halifax to court for £4600 (inc interest). They have acknowledged my claim and are preparing a defence. I'm prepared to go to court but I doubt it will come to that - if it does though, I know that the media will be there to lap up this breakthrough case.
Has anyone gone this far with Halifax? What did they do because I know no-one's gone to court yet so is it now a game of bluff? how much before the actual date will they make me a better offer than 10% of the total claim?0 -

Hi There,
After you received the letter saying they have sent it to their complaints dept how soon after that letter did you receive a letter indicating they were going to pay you.
I received a letter on Friday this week saying exactly the same as your letter but don't know if i should wait or lodge a claim through the courts.

Hi Tinytot
Was it only a small amount? Posted my letter to Halifax today requesting just a tad over £3000 and praying for a response like yours! There are two types of people in this world:givers and takers. The takers may eat better, but the givers sleep better:j0
