halifax bank charges (merged)

Hi anyone
I am in the middle of claiming charges off the Halifax and notice a number of success stories on the 'success board' , however, they don't state whether the totals included interest or not and it is quite important to me at the stage I am at. Are any of those people able to tell me or does anyone else have a clue. Thanks very much. By the way it's going quite well so far!

Alimc wrote:Hi,
I've put a claim in via MCOL for £332 + £50 cost. Halifax has until Saturday to respond. Got a letter from them today saying Further to your letter........blah blah blah.
Rang them to say that in court process and they only have until Sat to respond. Halifax saying they never received letter from the court !!
I am speechless. I'll phone Northampton today.
Anyone else had this ?
Any advice ?
Thanks
Well,
Spoke with MCOL and need to resubmit but fortunately don't need to pay again. I've checked twice with Halifax that the claim was sent to the right address. Off we go again then !!0 -
I just wanted to say that I have followed the standard letters to claim £522 off the Halifax. They said they wouldn't refund me initially in line with their standard terms and conditions and sent me a copy. I then sent a letter saying I would take them to court (I was a bit worried but saw the experiences that people had had on here and this seems to be the only way to do it with the Halifax) and I submitted a claim on line on the 2 Jan. I got a letter from the court saying that the Halifax intended to defend the claim and on the same day I got a letter from the Halifax saying that although they were not admitting liability, they would refund me the £522 plus the £80 court costs as it would cost them to go to court and they wouldn't be able to recover the costs. The money was in my bank that day and I put it straight onto my Halifax visa card which I then moved to a 0% card. I still have my bank accounts with Halifax, but dont plan to get charged any more!
All in all a good result!0 -
Hi all,
Yesterday I finally recieved my statements (30 envelpoes, poor postieman lol)
After a quick look through last night I only found 4 charges! Im sure Ive been charged more than 4 times in the laast 6 years!! Is there a way some charges could be hidden?
Anyway..is 4 charges a too small amount to go through it all for? Does it seem petty and tight fisted? Would I be better ringing up and asking for it over the phone as its such a tiny amount?
Helen xlove my little man he is amazing :j0 -
Phoned em today and letter was received on 30 Jan so 14 days now up. Filing in court this week. They said they have 8 weeks to reply to letters...0

Hi all,
Halifax acknowledged MCOL yesterday, two days before 2 week deadline.
I was hoping they may forget, and i win by default.
Today when i got home from work there was a message from customer relations, which i can only presume is the Halifax, saying as they could not get hold of me today a letter will be posted out tonight, telling me how to respond, (to their offer maybe)
I'm quite excited. might even have to pop home at lunchtime to check the mail.
Will keep you posted.0 -
Hi
I'm just about to start the process to get my charges back from Halifax. Obviously there is a chance that Halifax will close my account so I was thinking that I have an Intelligent Finance current account so all will be OK, but I know that Halifax own IF so wonder if they would shut that down as well?
What do people on here think? Anyone had the same situation?
Regards

Hi guys,
I'm in the process of claiming back £1300 from the Halifax for 3 years of overlimit and late fees on my Halifax Credit Card.
I have the list of charges and have have sent and received a standard reply to my first claim letter.
Today is the seventh day for them to reply to the second and therefore the deadline for issuing court proceedings. If they don't reply by this mornings post does anyone think it is worth a phone call to see if they are in the process of doing so? It's just that it will take a lot of begging and scrapping around to get the £120 to file the MCOL so I'd rather not have to.
Does anyone have any experience of them ignoring the second letter? I thought from the feedback on here that they tended to cave in at this stage but things aren't looking too good!!!
Cheers,

7th day from when you posted the letter or when they might have received it? I would give them an extra couple of days to respond then phone them.0 -
Re Edinburgh Lass
I sent it recorded delivery on the 6th and it was tracked as being signed for on the 7th. I think someone has misread my second letter (threatening court action). I received a second set of statements (dated 7th February). I think this is either a delaying tactic or a genuine error.
When I received no post this morning from them, I phoned up to clarify whether or not I would be receiving a response. Customer services told me they would be referring me to their Complaints department (which has a response time of five working days). Do you think it's worth waiting for?
Also if I am offered anything by them before court am I entitled to ask for it as a cheque or is it only allowed to be credited to my credit card?
Thanks ever so much,
Dan0
