  • A quick question... I am in the processs of reclaiming 1240 pounds from the Halifax in charges. I sent off my letter on saturday so will now wait 14 days...
It seems that smaller claims (under 1200 eg) seem to be settled faster and with less hassle. Is this a correct assumption or am I misreading the situation????
THE LONG AND THE SLOW ROAD SEEM TO APPLY TO DEBTS AND DIETS... THE TWO THINGS I WANT TO SEE THE BACK OF...:D

i certainly think smaller claims are being dealt with quicker and with less hassle. i think it depends on what you class as a smaller claim, i think of a small claim as less than £500 tbh

  • I'm trying to claim back charges £2143. Sent 2nd letter stating want it back on 15th Jan got standard reply saying passed details onto conplaints ect. Gave it till 1st feb for response , no response so I sent letter on 1st feb saying commencing court action . I still have't heard anything even though I gave 7 days it's now comming up to the secand week. I sent all letters via recorded. Will give them till 20th feb then MCOL. Just can't believe how quite they are , hoping I will go away i suppose.

by what law are they referring to? if you simply threatened to take them to court there is no law in place, just your own time frame.

sounds like a stalling tactic, registered for court action now and tell them you are doing so as they didnt respond within the allocated time

  • hi, thanks for advice, bit the bullet and claimed via MCOL this lunchtime, really scared about losing the £120.00 as well, keep everything crossed for me,ive never done anything like this before, ill keep you informed every step of the way.
  • hi all, right well after waiting since 20 jan for my statements they arrived today I'm nearly ready to send it all off but I'm not sure if i send all the pages or just the ones with charges? thanks in advance clare.
  • You don't send the statements but do a spreadsheet with the amount, date of charge and description. This will be needed at a later date so you might as well do it now.
  • Hi, we are about to send the letters to the Halifax asking for the last six years of statements... the only thing is we both have individual accounts with them as well as a joint account... do we have to send three letters with cheques for £10 ( one for each account) or would one letter quoting the three account details do the job...?

sorry if this has been posted already - a bit nervous about starting the process but completely fed up with Halifax charges (charged £30 a few months ago for being about 30p overdrawn for 30 min!! -

Any advice re the letters would be appreciated!

    Thanks

  • Hi,
I've put a claim in via MCOL for £332 + £50 cost. Halifax has until Saturday to respond. Got a letter from them today saying Further to your letter........blah blah blah.

Rang them to say that in court process and they only have until Sat to respond. Halifax saying they never received letter from the court !!

I am speechless. I'll phone Northampton today.

    Anyone else had this ?
    Any advice ?

    Thanks
