I just found this thread............. Wish I had found it sooner. I will watch for this year, and plan for next. my DD is 3 in January. She would have been so excited about this.........
Why not pick up an elf in the next few days and just highlight the fact he has poor time keeping :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

I don't think you are too late for this year Esmer. Even if it takes you
a week to get sorted with an elf etc you will still have more than 2 weeks of fun with your elf if s/he is staying until Christmas eve. From what I've read during the last couple of weeks, (this is my first elf year) it is traditional to start on 1st December. However, I doubt your 3 year old will complain if your elf arrives later than 1st December this year.“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

Evening all. Ben-elf has arrived ready for the morning with his passport, letter from Father Christmas and advent calendars. He has arrived in a cloud of glitter which I am sure I will regret by tomorrow when it has been trampled around the house!
Hope everyone has no trouble getting the kids ready for school tomorrow! xxPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

I've had a wonderful day at school... spent most of the morning rehearsing our Christmas play and then the afternoon with the children designing symmetrical snowflake and star decorations. The Christmas spirit is definitely in the air. I stayed at school until 8pm this evening to decorate the classroom with all the things the children had made, plus a few added extras to create a cold, snowy look- all silver and white. I think the children are going to be bowled over when they come in tomorrow! I did have one slight hiccup though when a child told me that one of the girls had said "If the elf just turns out to be a toy this is going to be so disappointing." I told them that of course the elves look like toys in the daytime, it's one of their tricks; they only come to life after we have all gone home.
Most of them seemed fine with this explanation but, just in case, I've not put the elf out ready for the children to see first thing when they come into the classroom as I originally intended (and as the children are expecting). I think that way the children will initially be rather disappointed to find he hasn't arrived. Instead I have packed him up in a decorated box (with breathing hole) and have asked the school secretary to bring him to our classroom a few minutes after register. She will put on a big act (our secretary is wonderful at joining in like this) saying she was in her office and suddenly this parcel magically appeared in front of her eyes. It is addressed to my class so she's brought it to us but is still in shock!
There will be a letter from Santa saying he's sorry the elf wasn't here earlier but explaining that the elf was worried about coming because he had heard some of the children didn't think he would be any good and he was feeling very shy. I'm not sure if this is a bit mean but hopefully this will turn initial disappointment into joy and convince them. It will certainly be a dramatic entrance!“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”

He's arrived.:j DS didn't want to get up, I reminded him about his advent calendar, which helped. He went to his underwear drawer and cheered " He's back, Christmas Elf is back, he left me something:j" A small cake iced with an elf. I asked him how he knew it was from the elf, he replied "cos he left me a letter" Letter says "I'm in big bother, I've lost something really important that belongs to FC. Please don't tell anyone, it's in your house somewhere and I might make a mess looking for it, love Christmas Elf. So DS wouldn't show me the letter hee hee. The lost item is FC sleigh driving license which off course he needs on Christmas Eve, don't worry it will turn up.:D
Have fun everyone

I am excited for your class! Please let us know how it all goes today!
We had a lovely morning here, I heard the kids stirring just a little after 6am and had my bells ready and rang them loud and hard before scrambling back to my bed. lol The kids ran to the window and we could hear them talking. My ds who is 8 yrs old said ''I think it's J.J. as I see little footprints outside and leading up to the house. (must of been a cat - lol) and then my dd who is 6 yrs old said ''do you think Santa dropped him off?''
So my husband said really loud ''what in the world was that noise?'' and the kids came running into the room and said ''I think the elf is here!'' I said to them 'lets go and see' and we all gasp at the top of the stairs as there is snow at the front door and run down the stairs as there was a trail of snow leading to the front room and there he was. Sitting on a new kids black sled and full of goodies for the kids.
It really feels like the start of Christmas now.:j0 -
