Hi.. not been on here much over the last few days so have a lot of catching up to do!!

We got our christmas tree on saturday - Kids loved it as we went to a place where you go into a huge field and pick your own and they cut it down for you... it was lovely (especially with all the snow!).

So we came home and put it up and I feel all christmassy now. I also got a mini tree for the kids bedroom from asda and it was only £3 - so that one will go up on wednesday when the elves arrive!

Jevvers: I think he'll be great - although the reindeer would be good too here
(you could say it's a reindeer 'in training!!'). I got the M&S dangly reindeer last year (he's a different design to that one) and he hangs of the light fitting.

My elves are coming on Tues but ds is ill with cough, cold, temp so I won't have much last minute prep time.
Last year he spent 3 weeks of Dec ill with flu while the elves were visiting.

    I hope it doesn't happen again ;(

My oldest is now off school ill too! I hope she gets better soon or will have to rethink a lot of my elf plans!

For anyone with kids who ask a lot of questions and may ask how their elves get in and out of the house, how about a magic key? (like the one Santa sometimes carries!) I found an old key, coated it in pva glue and sprinkled glitter all over it, it looks really good. You could also use some ribbon, tinsel etc as a key chain.

Many thanks to those who recommended the chocolate bars from Iceland, they fit perfectly in my advent calander. I have put a christmas joke in for each day from Pip, hope the boys find them funny. I have brought a christmas tree, lights , baubles from Poundland for ds2 to decorate after school on Wednesday to get us in the christmas spirit as we don't put up our tree for a while yet.

To everyone whose children may or may not believe in Father Christmas, I had to tell my ds1 a couple of weeks ago that he wasn't real, he broke his heart. Thing is he's 11 and in year 7! I couldn't let him go to school and say something innocently then his friends will pick up on it and tease him. It was one of the worst things I have had to do but thought it would be better coming from me. I am now getting worried about starting the christmas elf as I don't want to go through it again with ds2.

    Good luck for Wednesday everyone

Thank you YummyMummyAmy for the brilliant passport!

I am delivering the letter from Santa tonight, going to sprinkle (fake) snow on the ground and put the letter on top

Then meeting my sister once kids are in bed to explain all the bits and pieces for the elf so she can play properly!
    Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:
    Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44
    Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.10
  • glad everyone is pleased with the passports, glad i could be of help.

my fun is starting tomorrow - once boys are in bed, my tree n decs will be going up and the elves will be sat under it wed morning with advent calendars anbd a note in journal saying they got an ealrier train and therefore were able to put our tree up etc. last yr they didnt get here until the boys got home from school.

i have removed 1 of the boys xmas presents - army dressing up outfits, so when the elves dress up they can leave them for them - even managed to get a camo babygrow and soft hat for lil man to wear as well. its soooooo hard as he is only 1, and therefore cant really join in the board game or grow your own santa etc

Got the M&S dangly reindeer, thanks lexuslass. I am going to introduce him as Santa's little helper, complete with passport and everything.

He is great as he has magnetic, erm, hooves so can stick to things like the fridge - trying to get in to find food - and can stick his "hands" together to dangle from things.

Am already grinning about some of the fun we can have with chocolate covered raisins - "oh no that naughty reindeer has pooed everywhere!" DS will LOVE that.

Also found some cute Christmas hankies in the back of the cupboard so I am going to sew those together to make a blanket.

Ooh I am so excited for Wednesday!

EDIT Better name him then: Jingle Stripeylegs please (with apologies to all those who Jingled first but it IS a good name :) )
  • the passport office is now CLOSED!!! i hope everyone is happy with them.

Crackers Frosty-Toes arrived this morning, he was sat by the fireplace in his sleeping bag ontop of a Lego Advent calender, it was fab :)

I also printed out a letter from Santa explaining why ds had been chosen this year along with an instruction leaflet for caring for Crackers. I word processed it using a handwriting font and printed it on to parchment type paper and even if i do say so myself it looked fab!! (I thought this was a good idea as my son is 9 and it answered a lot of the questions he would have asked)

ds has gone off to school now with lots of plans in his head for all the different fun he can have with Crackers :xmassmile Also he can't wait to write a thank you letter to Father Christmas for sending Crackers to stay
    :xmassign:

and we decided that the snow we had this morning must have been Crackers first act of mischief :snow_laug

Hi Little_lil. Can you show us what you put in your letter and also your instruction for caring for your elf please as I need to do this as well. Thank you!:j

Also I just came back from Home Bargains and bought some antlers for the car for .99p as I thought our elf could say he put them on to remind him of Santa's reindeer one night he goes out for a joyride in our car.:D Also they have some crafts there for Christmas like making a 'santa stop here sign' for .98p and a making and decorating reindeer antlers with a set of four in them for .99p which I though would tie in nicely with the car having reindeer antlers too.:rotfl:
