The elves arrived on Sunday - the children went to Mr Sessie's mum and dad for the day and we moved all the toys from the living room to the kitchen (where they will stay, they are in those partly-clear stacking boxes so are quite tidy) and put the tree up in the living room and decorated it. It has a little train that goes round the bottom too. We put up a little tree in the children's bedroom, on the windowsill, that has sparkly LED presents on it too.

When we brought them back we all went into the living room together and their faces were a PICTURE!! They just gazed at the tree and train and we had also put up some lights round the door that leads from the living room to the kitchen. Then I brought the boxes with the elves in all covered in little LED battery powered lights and Mr Sessie opened the letters and read them and gave them their advent calendars and little toy. It was all really exciting ... until Girlchild realised the lights round the living room door had red, yellow, green on and so from them on it has been, "traffic lights on the door mummy, loook at the traffic lights" and if the red one is on when she's near it she has to "stop mummy!!". :rotfl:

Yesterday they were pretty well-behaved to say we were totally snowed-in and our house isn't huge for them to run around in. So they got a book each from the elves (pound shop ones, with sounds). VERY delighted they were, though if I hear another fire engine this century I will explode!!

TODAY..... Girlchild was on Wilful To The Max. EVERY opportunity she got she was taking things off the Christmas tree or knocking them underneath. Later, when I went up to the loo, she went into the fridge, got a trifle out.... you can imagine the rest.. and the mess..... OMG!! So, even though it was planned that today's elf gift was only a small one, we told her it was because she had been naughty that it was just a little thing! Yes, yes... I'm a bad parent... but she looked suitably chastened so let's see if the threat works that if she's naughty tomorrow, they might not leave anything!!

Glad it's going well for everyone else, will keep popping in to update and to see how your visitors are behaving!! Mine won't be mischievous this year as I don't think the children will understand but NEXT YEAR.... mwa ha haaa....

    x

PS: I might add that Mr Sessie is coming home from work, almost FORCING the children to finish their tea and they are barely out of the highchairs before he's asking, "So.. what have the elves got for you today then?!" and looking expectantly at me.... he says he's doing it for THEM... bless him x :rotfl:

  • Loving reading about everyone's elf's arrival. Kids were totally convinced by Holly and Buddy and haven't left them alone. DD1 really wants to take Holly to show and tell at school tomorrow (Y3), really hope they don't tease her and say she's making it up. She's going to take the journal etc too, so hopefully the class will be convinced!
  • kids are in bed, let the fun begin......nothing to fancy to night, they are writing their xmas cards to other elves, and i will post them tomorrow.

what are everyone elses doing tonight?
due to spilling coffee :coffee: on my keyboard it works when it wants to :rotfl:

I've just made a blog for Jingles. It is here. Does anyone else have blogs, so I can become a follower?

ETA: Mine isn't doing anything mischeivious tonight. He's had a long journey. He might snuggle in DD's bed though, and cuddle up because it's cold. Brrrr

    Hi Everyone!

Loving hearing about everyones elves and the excitement all your children have had!

Sunny Sparkley Toes arrived this morning in his sleeping bag with his letter from Father Christmas. My DS woke up this morning and was looking for him everywhere (he knew he was coming). When he found him downstairs, he was ecstatic! Sunny had also bought a present with him - Guess Who so my DS was very pleased. When my DS was in the shower, I slipped downstairs and put Sunny in the christmas tree with a cadburys elf chocolate.

We went out and my DS kept saying he wondered what Sunny would get up to while we were out! Eeek I thought! As my DS is off school (snow day!) I couldnt do anything (sometimes Sunny is mischievious during the day). So I 'forgot' my scarf, nipped back in the house and moved Sunny under the christmas tree in his sleeping bag. When we got back, my DS really thought he'd moved himself and said he was prob tired from the long journey.

I had planned on decorating my DS room tomorrow, but his school is shut again. So I am going to finish decorating the lounge tonight and say sunny did it and do DS room as well (if I get time!) :)

Keep up the posts about all your elves mischief and huge thanks again to Amy for starting this thread!

Snowball and friends have spent the evening assessorizing their hair.
They have all the hairbands, hair bobbles and brushes out and are all huddled
on the floor in the downstairs loo admiring their new hairstyles in the mirror;)
They have a choccy bar with them for the kids to take with them on the

  • Before we went to bed last night, my husband ran up a baby sleeping bag (like a grobag) out of santa fabric, glue and poppers and Eggnog settled himself nice and comfy in the (curently tree less) corner.

We had a great day. Dcs loved coming down and spent ages looking at the new decorations scattered around. They then discovered Eggnog still sleeping so quietly investigated the contents of his sack and were over the moon with their advent calendars. Eldest dd is convinced, eldest ds was a little skeptical but still very interested. Youngest three took turns looking after him this morning until he needed a rest on the shelf. Youngest girl is also convinced, she found him her dolls car seat to sleep in so he's more comfy (she hasn't got a doll cot yet). Youngest three also had a big clear up of their bedroom.

Tonight Eggnog's been eating a tub of chocolates & watching dvds on laptop in his sleeping bag. He has left chocs all over the laptop lid so dh will be cross (no difficulty first thing in the morning lol). He's left the children a lantern making kit (wilkingsons) and a book (12 days of xmas) and written in his journal.

I'm loving reading about everyones elf 'arrivals' too!

Ours arrived this morning... sitting on top of the advent trains by the front door... I scattered loads of fake snow (from the poundshop) which looked great (took me ages to hoover up as it ended up all over the house!!).

I had a panic last night as the 'sleeping bags' I had from last year were too small for this years elves.. and then I realised I had got some little bags from the poundshop that you can design yourself with felt pens and stickers (pheww!!)... they absolutely loved doing them!!

I set up their little silver christmas tree in their bedroom and switched it on when they went to bed with the christmas dvd the elves bought them and they were amazed when they saw it!!

I'm not doing anything else tonight apart from a little toy in the calendar for morning... I think tomorrow night I will decorate their room with snowflakes... break them in gently again and then will start the mischief!!! :D
